@chrisg ikr???? like, (a) the basic premise is batshit insane: the entire world except the US is in the top right corner, the US is in the bottom left corner, and every other point in the grid is stupid, (b) the heatmap is ugly and hard to parse, and (c) literally nobody cares

This seems exactly correct. I make computational art, and I write about the same technical topics that LLMs aren’t terrible at. But I genuinely don’t think I’m losing my audience to the latest gpt model. It’s not my skill as a coder or an artist that makes people care about my work, it’s the connection between the author and the audience that makes it work. I’m not stackoverflow, I’m a human being who shows herself in her work

Pet peeve.. if you are advertising an online tech event that anyone can join, regardless of where they live, please advertise the time in UTC as well as the local timezone. I know my *own* local timezone relative to UTC off by heart, but I have no idea what it is relative to US Eastern or whatever

finally at the stage of "mental health is better" where I'm willing to open linkedin to crosspost the occasional blog post, but oh god the feed there is so bad... my queendom for the option *not* to see the "likes and celebrates" from every person I follow. I am entirely okay with seeing *their* posts, but that doesn't mean I like what they like and it feels vaguely creepy that social media platforms don't let you opt out of the voyeurism

@risottobias it’s eerily similar, actually, and I find it unsettling because these are people whose political opinions I agree with (in the broad sense), but they genuinely don’t seem to have grasped the idea that sometimes you can be on the right side of an argument and yeah actually you’re still the asshole
