@gnu2 @lxo This is interesting. By dictionary, not only refer to America in the United States of America but also America as continent (North America, South America).

@gnu2 @gnusocialjp @Suiseiseki I think it's common if they speak only a little English. Are they speak English fluently but formally in non-formal situation? But realized they are Indian, so they also could be English native speakers. May I know, which state do you live?
@gnusocialjp Sorry, I don't understand your definitions of 'list' and 'follow', but the last one is not true. You can sort People (in classic) by created date, so new users can be seen by clicking 'Created' text on the page. Also, there is +(plus) or -(minus) button said 'Subscribe' or 'Unsubscribe' next to each user working as follow-unfollow.
More over, there are search option and filters by first letter username. Search option can be used to search by name, username, description, or location. It's surely a good feature but I see some flaws: name/username has to be exact but can't search below 3 letters, hence people can't search @me; some words in profile descriptions can be used, others can't.
I hope we talk about the same thing because I just realized this People function has 'users' in its link (https://gnusocial.jp/directory/users).
@gnusocialjp mixed word choices, informal and formal words, wrongly use words in context in business presentations, not just a communication between colleagues. I can't give an example but I'd know if people do in my native.
Even I agree about result is the most important, but some people I know can't get rid the first impression easily. It's getting worse if present a suggestion, they would hardly trust it. But this case only if we speak same native, I've never been in formal situation with different natives.
@gnusocialjp @gnu2 What do you think about people using unorganized language in business? My first impression would be unprofessional, lack of education.
@gnusocialjp Agree in some places.
In the internet, mostly fine with translation software. Technology is getting better tho. But daily life depends on their business life. If work in international or multinational company, we may need to use foreign language at least English if not English natives. I mean, we may have them as friends and closer to our daily life (outside business). If we only want to know facts, then it's enough. Like @gnu2 said, language has something more.
Oh god, sorry, I didn't see you sent me replies. Well, it could be true. I joined hinative, a community to discuss language. Sometimes I have no idea to correct or define something people ask about my native language, but I can always feel if something off. Thanks btw, nice to meet you.
@gnusocialjp So Users is a list manually added by the admin using QvitterPlus.
I wonder, why do you add Users (manually tagged) instead of People (auto generate)? Is it possible to adopt People from classic to Qvitter?
There are some features not available in new GS but classic which I can't find link to them in new GS, like Bookmark or Messages. People might miss those features. In other hand, there is a feature can only be accesed in classic but the link featured in new GS, like Popular or Groups.
After trying to find out these difference, I discover something interesting.
All features in new GS menu always take place in the theme, except the unavailable ones. All features in classic GS menu send to new GS, except the unavailable ones plus another exception: Favorites.
In new GS, I can use Favorites from sidebar or my profile page. They all redirect to same link, same page. In the classic, it has same link but the page shown in classic. If open in new page or refresh it, it comes back to classic one.
Another worth mention is a pair of feature which I thought the same: People (classic) and Users (new). It seemed the same list with different sort but I checked manually, the classic one has someone not in the Users. I still don't know those functions, what make those different.
@gnusocialjp It's been a few days but it seems the attack is continue. This site seems to be slower than usual in random occassion. I've also been experienced some errors for accessing GS. There was one misleading error, probably because the site was on slow performance. The image is png file under 200kB. https://gnusocial.jp/url/535255

ガーラIt's funny to know that Twitter bans Mastodon and other social medias promotion after suspending journalist accounts.
I'd assume, Twitter no longer provide free speech and might be even worse. The new policy is likely to be applied because they knew that they no longer provided free speech. The only rivals for Twitter are distributed SNS with their freedom of speech. Freedom-related influencers could easily invite their followers to another platforms for their needs.
