When I was retraining 20+ years ago, we learned some IPv6 stuff. $AGENCY was really slow to implement it, even after gov't agencies were mandated to use it.
At the time, their VPN software seemed to be IPv4 only, but I'm sure that if USG put out an RFP for VPNs that support IPv6, vendors would suddenly find the capability to provide it.
I guess the only point is that you're not the only one dragging your feet. -

Core of the storm should arrive in 10-12 hours. -

I have to admit that I didn't really pay much attention to weathercasters until about two years ago, but I can't imagine that this is something new. Think Hurricane Katrina about twenty years ago. According to what I've read, it was known that New Orleans was vulnerable, so when the storm headed for that general vicinity, I suspect that some meteorologists whose tear ducts run a little too close to their heart would have broken down at the thought of the number of people who would be drowned. -

Hurricane Kirk is now Post-tropical Cyclone Kirk. It has winds of 75MPH and is moving NE at 29MPH toward France. The forecast track has moved Southward over time.
People in the EU should check MeteoAlarm or their national meteorology service for possible alerts in their areas. -

Hurricane Milton is now spinning at 180MPH, moving E at 10MPH, and the center is expected to come ashore near Tampa, Florida, late Wednesday or early Thursday.
The category 5 storm reached this intensity before it even reached the spot with deep warm water where everyone thought it would strengthen to cat 3 a day or so before landfall.
If there's any consolation, it is that this hurricane is quite compact, unlike Hurricane Helene was. -

Someone posted a pro-democracy statement from the Reza Pahlavi, the Crown Prince of Iran. They editorialized saying that the Iranian government might be trying to get ahead of a Trump victory.
I think we need to avoid confusing the Crown Prince of Iran with the government of Iran and that Mr Pahlavi should consider that the theocratic regime could try to wipe out all royal descendants of the Shah to permanently end the monarchy. -

Tonight, instead of watching weather or space videos, we watched an episode of 'Smarter Every Day' in which Destin ascended Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro and measured the boiling point of water at various levels during the trip. -

Milton is now a hurricane and still expected to hit the Florida peninsula Wednesday or Thursday.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Kirk appears to be heading for northern France late Wednesday, but should lose its tropical characteristics and start weakening within a day.
Hurricane Leslie is heading Northwest, which should keep it away from inhabited islands for the next few days. -

There was a farm fest / farm equipment show at the fairgrounds, so we took the grandkids. They got to see tractors, cows, sheep, and goats. As much as they like tractors (Grandson_5, age 2, says tractors are his favorite thing in the whole world), only the youngest was really excited by them. The 3 and 5 year olds really got excited about the farm animals.
The place was crowded with families. Many of them seemed to be familiar with farming stuff, but there were also some like the grandkids, who seemed to like it because it is different from what they see in their daily lives.
Afterward, Grandson_3 (age 5) says he would have liked it better if they'd had chickens too.
All in all, a win. -
