Stories about “uploading consciousness” and/or “teleportation” vis-a-vis remote atomic reconstruction imply the same sort of faith in “perspective transferrence”, ie that one’s User-Experience stems from and depends upon a particular arrangement of material things. That this is not at all well established creates the dramatic tension; for consciousness itself is very poorly understood — and anyone aware of this, necessarily holds doubts that either of these processes really work as intended.
