To a huge degree, the internet has replaced in person meetups in terms of how people do socialization.
Meeting others on the internet, even today, is much lower risk (time lost, etc) than meeting in person.

In person meetups will probably need to adapt by offering more or they may die out completely by the time Gen Z are the entrenched decision makers in congress (if we don't all die in WW3 before that ofc)
