interestingly: TWIV69 touches on the 'how much does the flu vaccine protect' question in a new way - ie getting a flu vaccine now can protect you quite a few decades after the fact, something that as of 2010 they weren't really expecting

ie if there's a flu pandemic strain in 2040 or something, and any of us are still alive, that time we got vaccinated in 2019 or 2023 might be the difference between us living and dying.
