You don't need to build the "skateboard" body style that so many electrics use either, so you can just put cells wherever makes the most sense in clusters, possibly in normal drivetrain areas since that's now free. This is what modern locomotives do, so it's proven tech. Edison Motors is doing this for semi trucks via conversion and it's giving them twice the mpg of standard diesel.
