Hunting here is a commoner thing and the gun market reflects that. A not insignificant number of rural people in the US get a decent chunk of their dietary protein from things they've hunted. But in the UK, as you note, it's much more of a hobby for the elite. And they love their shotguns. So there are luxury brands of shotguns in the UK that sell for tens or hundreds of thousands of pounds.
