- Embed this noticeThe rules are so retarded. I operate as a S-corp, but because I'm an officer, I have to include my insurance (paid by corp) as compensation (subject to income tax, but not fica). So it goes on the W-2 at 24k a year. I get a 24k expense on the corporate return though.
Then I have to deduct it as self-employment health insurance on my 1040, so -24k above the line.
So there is a savings (expense on the corporate side effectively passed through on the K-1). But the math is all retarded. Just make it tax free like any other employee, but a corporate expense. It sums out the same.
