she received socialist education and was active in socialist party youth, her style of totalitarianism was much more "chill USSR bureaucrat" style than naziism (fascism + german cultural autism).
This is one thing german right wingers get right about her, however for me it's barely a negative. When she was in office there was no "politics", it was literally just her and people were busy with their private hobbies and carreer grind (good thing for germans, better than them going all in on latest german ideological experiment)
