   So what are good desktop apps for Mastodon? I use MacOS. I have tried Whalebird. Also used MetaText (the iOS app can be used on Mac).

   Why can't I use @tootapp on MacOS?

     @ruud both @ivory (see screenshot on @mark feed) and @JPEGuin #Mammoth will work on macOS.

     @ruud @tootapp There is a complication there: MetaText can be used on OSX/AARCH, not OSX/X86.

     @ruud I simply use the web app in advanced view with Firefox.

     Works well, has push notifications and all.

     What are you missing from it that you need a dedicated app?

     @ruud: I use Hyperspace on my PC desktop. I think they have an iOS version. It allows for multi-column display and access to Home, Local, and Public streams.
