     @sun @mushroom_soup BYD would put Chrysler at the very minimum out of business if they started selling them here in the US. I'm honestly a little surprised we're getting Vietnamese cars on the road. I'm starting to see Vinfasts around.

     @joey @mushroom_soup @sun I wish good EVs existed, there's really nothing about batteries and electric motors that requires the manufacturer to go apeshit with software backdoors and death-trap doorhandles and suchlike

     @scathach @sun @mushroom_soup They aren't that advanced. It's just the styling and hype that creates a perception of being advanced. People see a huge touch screen and think it's some type of advanced system but the truth is touch screen controls purpose is solely to lower manufacturing costs and it creates a danger of distraction to the driver.
     
     And you are right. EVs are more likely to have bugs that can kill you, or be hacked remotely and used as a weapon. Personally I wouldn't be comfortable owning a vehicle that the manufacturer can at will push software updates remotely or a car that sends telemetry back to the maker.
