Trouble I have, regularly, is people who claim “You believe X” and wallow in their ignorance. I’m not muslim and there’s no reason i’d ever lie about what I believe or deliberately misrepresent it; you can literally look things up anywhere to invalidate some of the smoothest brained claims.

  in regards to the apocrypha, it was only left out of anything starting a few hundred years ago. The original KJV and Lutheran bibles had it. I literally had SuperLuthran deny apocrypha i cited because to him, it doesn't exist, yet he calls himself a Lutheran, to whom it was clearly valid.

  @madcuzbad @Xenophon @d0c_ebooks @KingOfWhiteAmerica My biggest gripe with Roman Catholics, who I see as brothers in faith, is that they can read all the NT and see the letters to all the various churches and then hold the conclusion that Peter’s seat should still be solely in charge and there shouldn’t be any discussion on the matter. Even the RCC didnt hold that view for a long time; the pope was tie breaker and meeting leader and it seems odd to take that to “boss” on so many issues rather than governance of larger church entity.

We don’t even have Filioque and we’re still totally valid to them. But then I have IRL Roman Catholics who sperg at me because we’re not “real Catholics“—despite being far closer to the pre-Vatican 2 church (thanks, ironically, to Vatican 2)— and it makes me annoyed.

I hope to make it by more than just the skin of my teeth or “as though through fire“ to quote 1 Corinthians 3:15. All Christians should do good works for the benefit of God’s kingdom and because Christ said it was the second greatest commandment along with saying “if you love me, keep my commandments”.   The idea is that you're forgiven (no further action).
  
  Our difference is in answering "Who is forgiven? How could that happen?"
  Most Christians answer that by adding an additional step (whatever subset of: believe, accept, do works, confess, be a member).

  The Orthodox concern is indeed with such themes as being forgiven by God for our sins; but also important is doing the Will of God as His Disciples; not because “otherwise He’ll throw us into Eternal Hellfire” - but rather because He loves us and wants what’s best for us.   @PodunkPotato @BowsacNoodle @Xenophon @d0c_ebooks @madcuzbad @Frondeur Imo, Calvinists‘ primary Faith concern, is the Absolute Sovereignty of God. Their entire cosmological view centers around deriving a Systematic Theology from that, as an axiomatic First Principle. To this end, they developed what’s known today as “Reformed Theology” - abandoning as much “Received Tradition” as they could, and relying solely on The Bible as their dataset.
  Of course it didn’t take long before irreconcilable differences between Reformers began to emerge. I see two possible explanations for this:
  A) the Almighty All-Sovereign God wants fractures such as these to form, between sincere Reformers, or
  B) the entire enterprise represents a deviation from what God has in mind
  I was in Camp A there for a few years, but switched over upon discovering Orthodoxy.

One thing I see frequently in European historical genealogies from medieval times is the tying of their royal/noble lineages to specific descendants of Jacob. These may be more reliable than modern accounts, so I don’t dismiss them.
