This US blathering about Greenland is just tiresome. Canada is a bigger security threat. They really "I like Chinese". Also, the US willingness to be aggressive is directly proportional to the distance. Cuba is just plodding along. While Irak etc just chaos.
The US has a base on Greenland. If Europe goes cuckoo, the US will take over Greenland, Everybody realises that. I am sure EU slimeballs want to control Greenland. Denmark would not want that either. So.. is Trump just signalling to EU?

I think Trump should ask to buy Kamchatka. If he dares. Danmark is tiny.

One irony in all this. The Brits protest Trumps tone against Danmark. The f-ing Brits attacked Copenhagen in 1801. They should just shut up. They never truly felt part of Europe anyway.

@nom It is really hard to know what play is. But I think it is stupid to go after Danmark in this way. They are friends. I have friends in Danmark who thinks Europe is pretty degenrate, but they still get really pissed of at Trump now. Also a factor is Denamrk might be small, but it is the oldest monarchy in Europe. Not like the horsefaced germans of windsor, as an example.

@inscius@noauthority.social Apparently an attack on Grønland would terminate NATO. Well, that puts things in a different light.

If true, then it's about higher-level machinations + intrigue!
In any case I find it entertaining, if not interesting.

@nom Well, Denmark has not insulted him. Some Danes may have. I just think it is pathetic. And I say that as not a Trump fan, but still seeing all this trump derangement syndrome. Either everything h does is genius, or everything he does is bad and h is a racist etc. I think he lost sympathy.

So he wants Nato gone? Create Ocenaia 1984? ;-)

And he smiling with wahabists, salafists etc is just disgusting. Many European politicians do that too.

      As for earthquakes...

@inscius@noauthority.social I think Danmark is an innocent bystander, with Trump reviving the Truman-era plan to "buy Grønland" being a ploy. At the time, the US kinda "had" Newfoundland and Churchill had during the war ceded Canada to the US, which was then walked back by a similar group of angry Candian politicans, causing US troops to be pushed back to camps in Edmonton and umm... Calgary.

Newfoundland was a big deal and I think just after chiner grabbed the country of Tibet, Canada in similar spirit suddenly annexed Newfoundland (after US servicement took all their young women!)

But I think for Señor Trump and his Trumpettes, what matters is plunging NATO into some level of incongruity. If he got Grønland, it would be as a bonus... but I don't think he ultimately cares, like Truman did, if it becomes part of the US or not.

A precise yet broad goal shall be to get everyone to fall for a taste, an odor, of incongruity, to push NATO aside or at least diminish trust and effectiveness. I can only guess the reason is to push the US out of dependence on the world. Tho' I also think Trump just disses anyone or any country that has in the past insulted him. You could say for him, that's a bonus.

Weird, but I'm entertained and at least that's well... something isn't it? Like earthquakes, there is nothing I can do about it so prefer to find it upon myself to be entertained, probably due to lack of sobriety! Whelp, gotta get back to my Jack Daniels...

@inscius just to hold it, Denmark pays a lot for Greenland every year. China will loan them money for it secured by mineral rights. Then when they default, China will start mining Greenland for its Rare Earth minerals. That will let them set up their own bases there and get a foothold in the Arctic that breaks the security line from Greenland to Iceland to the UK. They'd like to get in on Arctic offshore oil drilling as well

@klaatu So you mean trump conciously did a wake up call to Europe? Or Denmark? It's not like China is the only mining nation in the world. And btw, Sweden has a very long tradition of mining, and the past few of our govts seem to working on selling it out. Joining Nato and also allowing US to have more control here is prolly part of it. Strategy and resource extraction goes together.

@inscius 😂 I know! I would take everything as a signal. He We have threats everywhere, land, sky, and sea, in our military, to the north, south, east and west who want us dead! We're going to protect people & country because the whole threat is very evil. It's not just about protection, but also about the people getting back what was stolen from them and create much more.

@Java I enjoy some of the face slaps to our European politician slop as anyone. But, his administration has not been as tough against the crescent moon worshippers, from Wahabists to the more secular ones. And the in practice help given to Azerbadian I find despicable.

It seems the Shia is the problem. Not that the Iran regime is not horrible, but so are most of those.

US is not really threatened by Islam, but most of the rest of the world is.

@DrFell Lots of Iranians already left. but they have a national identity, which few Muslim countries have. And a history way before Mahmud listened to a demon ;-) .

As for the trash, it is a consequence of unregulated immigration policies. It used to be mostly people who if not educated, wanted to work for a better future for their family. @Java

Do you think the Shia in Iran would just stay there and not migrate? It seems the only ones migrating are low class trash from other countries.
