@FeartnTired @Fullycaffeinated Talking of purple, I bought a Dragon fruit in Marks yesterday, never had one before and wondered what like. Turns out it was the purple sort and it was PURPLE! If that juice got on your clothes you'd never get it out, as it is even after scrubbing my fingers are still not completely clear of it. Nice enough, in a not very dramatic kind of way, but not worth 4 quid. My curiosity is now satisfied though.

@HebrideanHecate @FeartnTired @Fullycaffeinated I bought one in a market in Hawaii for exactly the same reason. Looked gorgeous. Tasted fairly bland. Came to the same conclusion as you. -

@KeepTakingTheSoma @HebrideanHecate @FeartnTired @Fullycaffeinated Any time I've tried dragon fruit, I was left feeling disappointed and vaguely confused. I thought it was because the fruit was sad after traveling so far to a Canadian grocery store.
But if it's also bland in Hawaii, I really have to ask, what's even the point?KeepTakingTheSoma likes this. -

@GrumpyOldNurse @HebrideanHecate @FeartnTired @Fullycaffeinated I have a sneaky feeling that it evolved that way because nature likes playing tricks on us just to remind us who's in charge. -

@KeepTakingTheSoma @GrumpyOldNurse @HebrideanHecate @FeartnTired @Fullycaffeinated The very spiky ones that are yellow have more flavor. It's a tropical cactus, and pretty much all cactus fruit is bland. Some people use the purple and pink ones as a natural food dye. KeepTakingTheSoma likes this.
