     @satsuki @crunklord420 The AMDGPU drivers have good performance, but those are in fact proprietary software, as half of the driver is provided as proprietary binaries without source code that run on the GPU.
     
     Ironically if you want freedom and performance, you want a nvidia 780 Ti, as nouveau has free peripheral software and free VBIOS init for that card.

     @parker @crunklord420 @satsuki Any sane person - the performance is generally much higher than intel integrated graphics and the following cards for several years really weren't that much faster - those only used less power.
     
     You can play supertuxkart at 1440p and 120fps even with the current clocking of only 50% and that's a pretty heavy game.
     
     There are still improvements to be made, as the bipeline still has slowdowns in it.

     They're not as good as AMD's offerings. You get worse performance with Linux Nvidia drivers compared to their Windows counterparts.

     Nvidia is gonna have to reconsider their Linux drivers as more people are moving away from the Windows ecosystem due to being fed up with Microsoft's tone deaf management not reading the room that people don't want an agentic OS.

     Honestly with me having a 3070ti right now that's the biggest hurdle holding me back from going to Arch/CachyOS right now. My desktop PC is running Win 10 Pro x64 ESU until my hardware is fully compatible with linux. I do have a ThinkPad T480 with Arch installed that's a solid machine. Graphics wise it's not the greatest Intel UHD620 but it's stable. Only thing my thinkpad gets touchy with is the fact I repalced the stock T480 trackpad with a glass trackpad from a Carbon X1E and the PS mouse drivers can randomly go nuts sometimes, and putting the machine to sleep by closing the lid can act buggy but if I put it to sleep through the KDE plasma super menu that mitigates that issue.

     On ARM devices it runs quite slow.

     @xianc78 I don't know. He runs Fedora so he clearly has no interest or experience with tinkering with his desktop. He lives in his text editor and his bespoke command line toolchain. It's like Terry Davis running Ubuntu because it's the easiest way to install VMware.
