just the other day NeoTokyo (and other Source 2006 era games, which lack a Linux build) would get you VAC kicked (with a connection error) from Steam servers and it turns out you need Proton Experimental because "durr you're supposed to use the Linux build"By the time we figured this out we had mostly stopped playing it for the night.
Saying it just works is like saying Nissan CVTs are fixed now.

I moved to Linux on its merits of it working better than windows and being basically much more featureful and just... plain more pleasant. Free software is pretty nice (though I criticize it a lot) but it's not the sole reason, and it weirds me out that people point that first instead of saying that linux stuff plainly works better most of the time. -

@coolboymew I think he's right. When AI is involved at all stages of production (production led by humans) what exactly does Made with AI mean anymore? If anything they should disclose if the art in a game was generated by AI. I would still apply that label fully at apps/games made by AI, which is a different category.

Muh HDR is a sacred cow of gayland apologists, and I saw it could be enabled there when I booted, and the only thing it did is flashbang me by locking screen brightness at 100% and wash up all the colors. I down't know how many other skewed priorities in life they have, but there can't be just few. -

Used some obscure calibration thing for my drawing tablet that spew out numbers the wacom driver would like, threw those into a script on startup and has been working like that for years. And you say that but you don't remember not being able to game on intel due to them having a driver that wasn't gallium based and thus wouldn't work with gallium nine. These days stuff does break due to insufficient testing and lots of machines using MediaTek wifi which is ass. -

I did have some regressions that were fixed quickly, and for a small amount of time a game i wanted to play would cause the driver to reset (this was fixed). I haven't had issues until this year with another game that I tried to play but also triggered a reset (that game sucks so i didn't follow up on the report lol) and also when using openai's whisper thru gpu, but it's minor stuff compared to my experience with amd. doesn't excuse the stuff that happens to others though -
