    Eureka.
In the last 6 months I've only gotten 5 spam or scam calls or texts total. It used to be 5+ per day.
I can't tell if one specific change I made did it, or the combination.
Was it changing to #Linux ?
    Was it #Fairphone with #Murena ?
Was it ditching my old cell carrier and moving my number to #XMPP ?
Was it bailing out of gmail or outlook for #opensource email options?
Was it abandoning corporate social media and replacing it fully with #Fediverse ?

Whatever it was, the silence and ability to use my phone for its intended purpose - talking to people I know - is glorious.

@teqnkka @GrapheneOS @growfediverse It would be awesome if GrapheneOS would be compatible with a Fairphone model.

Buying a Google device to #degoogle myself would feel like missing the point entirely. And I love Fairphone's hardware concept.

I am by no mean an expert, thanks for additional input on this. Any other devices worth looking into besides #pixel when it comes to #grapheneos ?

@growfediverse Most of the time it's really changing your number and email, then applying opsec and not sharing those two everywhere, have a junk email for registering to different services that are most likely going to leak your email. #Fairphone with #murena is not secure, check posts from @GrapheneOS
Don't get me wrong, those all are great practices anyways, but most of the time it's bad people or bad obsec services sharing or leaking your info.

@iobear @teqnkka @david_bardos @growfediverse Fairphone's devices are nearly entirely designed and implemented by their ODM. They do very little engineering themselves. They're not providing actual long term support and updates. Fairphone 5 is approaching kernel end-of-life in December and the Fairphone 4 is already there. Basic backported patches come months late and OS updates start a year or more late then get much worse over time. They miss basic security features/protections too.

@teqnkka @GrapheneOS @david_bardos @growfediverse Fairphone doesn’t have the weight to push suppliers, but they are at least trying. Relying on Google to provide privacy is naive at best. We need policies or a lot of money to get a open and secure ecosystem.

@GrapheneOS @david_bardos @growfediverse Yea and I am starting to feel like their concept is just selling parts at this point. Sounds good on paper, but expensive and lock in into one ecosystem. If companies like #Fairphone and #framework really cared, they would lobby for introducing one standard for all components. They also open source everything. Right now looks to me like creating small monopolies at small niches. Again, it's a step forward but not entirely the product "for humanity".

@david_bardos @teqnkka @growfediverse Fairphone's devices have atrocious security and are very far from meeting our hardware requirements. They very clearly do not prioritize security and also have negligible engineering resources with nearly everything done by their ODM. You should read https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/24134-devices-lacking-standard-privacysecurity-patches-and-protections-arent-private. They're definitely not a reasonable choice for GrapheneOS support. The marketing claims for their devices for long term support and updates aren't at all accurate.

@iobear @teqnkka @david_bardos @growfediverse Fairphone is partnered with Google and their devices have to comply with their certification requires. The stock OS has privileged Google Mobile Services integration. Fairphone is also partnered with Murena, a company blatantly scamming people with an extraordinarily insecure and non-private OS which lags far further behind on patches and has invasive services. Privacy doesn't mean avoiding Google and what /e/ provides is far worse, not better.

@iobear @teqnkka @david_bardos @growfediverse Fairphone is a for-profit company trying to earn money. Their approach to earning money is convincing people their devices are environmentally friendly with fair wages for the people involved and long term support for repairs/updates. We know the claims about updates are thoroughly inaccurate, as are the claims about privacy with /e/. Therefore, why take the rest of their marketing at face value? Where's the proof it's more sustainable than iPhones?

@implementcontrols @teqnkka @david_bardos @growfediverse CAMM2 (Compression Attached Memory Module) exists to provide similar performance benefits without soldering it on but rather screwing on a large module with all of the RAM similar to an M.2 drive. No need for it to be soldered on anymore.
