What's your favorite completely true fact that's so bonkers it sounds made up? I'll start.

Camels don't store water in their humps.
    That's an urban myth.
    But they do store fat.
But then they burn that fat.
And the carbon gets released as carbon dioxide
And the hydrogen gets released as water.
And for every gram of fat they store and burn the camel gets back 1.1 grams of water.
So camels do actually store water in their humps.
They actually store more water in there than if it was actually water.

@negative12dollarbill @Lana Animal fats are mostly octadecanoic acid (stearic acid) with three of those bonded to a glycerol as stearin. Basically C18H36O2 + 26 O2 -> 18 CO2 + 18 H2O. The oxygen (most of it) comes in from atmospheric breathing gas. The CO2 departs during exhalation.

As written, that would seem to go against the laws of physics. I must be missing something. Where does the extra matter come from?

Pistol shrimp can create plasma reaching thousands of degrees in temperature by snapping its claws. It’s been replicated mechanically.
