     Canvas Curse is the best thing to get out of that era
     
     Squak Squad is pretty terrible. The level design ultimately sucks, the end of level Squeak Squad gimmick is too easy and not threatening at all. The stomach gimmick is good, but the level's treasures completely ruins it by taking up most of the space

     I still think Canvas Curse was the best DS Kirby Game. I never played squeak squad. I did get the GBA remake of Kirby's Adventure Nightmare in Dreamland cheap and it's an okay game but I much prefer the NES one for nostalgia because it's what I grew up with.
     
     Usually when I play the NES game I usually just emulate the French Canada version of the game despite growing up with the english NTSC-U version.

     Super Star is best played on SNES because it's not censored, the DS remake got rid of the blackface boss Wham Bam Rock.

     I'm playing Super Star for the first time now via Retro Arch and loving it. If you scroll up in this thread, we discussed "Run, Kirby, Run" which I didn't know was originally from SS. The first time I heard that song was the orchestral version in SSBM.
     
     I never played KDL3 or SS as a kid, 'cause I never had an SNES. Always had to play SNES at my friends' houses.

     I played the Dream Land 1 remake via. Kirby Super Star but I still have my Dream Land 2 cart my aunt bought me for my 8th birthday. I never fully 100% the game though. Some of those secrets are really cryptic to find without a guide.

     Having to go back to a specific level to become a fish, go to another level to shoot rocks, go to a third level to break a block that requires your mothers maiden name and an HBO platinum account, then navigate a maze of spikes without getting hit once and if you do the entire process begins anew. Definitely mundane stress instead of actual skill back then.

     I never played KDL3 growing up I always wanted a copy but by the time I learned it existed it was a decade after it came out and copies back then were stupid expensive ( back when retro game prices were a bit more reasonable ) It got a lot worse since then.
     
     I ended up saying fuck it and back in 2017 I bought the SFC version Hoshi No Kirby 3 for $26. I had to buy it twice though because the first time I bought the seller screwed up and accidentally gave me the SFC version of Sparkster. At first I was kinda pissed but then I found out Sparkster was actually a good game and it was 2x more expensive than kirby so it was probably my favorite accidental game purchase.
