     Thor was most often likened to Archangel Michael. Both are warrior figures who fight against evil, particularly serpentine or draconic forces:
     
     * Thor fights the Midgard Serpent (Jörmungandr) during Ragnarök.
     
     * Michael slays the Dragon (Satan) in Revelation 12:7–9.
     
     This shared dragon-slaying imagery made the comparison quite natural. Both also serve as protectors of humanity—Thor through strength and thunder, Michael through divine authority and angelic might.
     
     Other Notable Parallels Between Norse and Christian Figures
     1. Odin and God the Father
     Odin was the Allfather, associated with wisdom, sacrifice, and ruling from above.
     
     Christian missionaries often aligned Odin with the Christian God, though with caveats—Odin’s trickery and darker attributes conflicted with Christian ideals.
     
     The “sacrificing himself on Yggdrasil” myth was sometimes used to parallel Christ’s crucifixion—both endured pain and death to gain higher knowledge or salvation.
     
     2. Baldr and Christ
     Baldr’s death and foretold return are very Christ-like:
     
     He is beloved, pure, and unjustly killed.
     
     Prophecies foretell his resurrection after Ragnarök (like the Second Coming).
     
     Baldr’s myth might have been softened or enhanced post-contact with Christian ideas—some scholars argue he was already moving toward a Christ-type figure in late paganism.
     
     3. Tyr and Christ (or justice figures)
     Tyr is the god of law, justice, and self-sacrifice (he loses his hand to bind Fenrir).
     
     Some early Christians in Norse lands may have seen him as a prefiguration of Christ in his willingness to suffer for the good of others, or as a moral figure akin to Saints or prophets who upheld justice.
     
     4. Loki and the Devil
     Loki’s role as a shape-shifting trickster and eventual bringer of chaos makes him a natural parallel to Satan—especially in later Christianized retellings.
     
     Early Christians likely emphasized this comparison to vilify Loki and draw clearer moral lines.
     
     5. The Valkyries and Angels
     Valkyries were messengers of Odin who brought the chosen dead to Valhalla.
     
     This echoes angels who carry souls or archangels like Michael who serve in heavenly battles.
     
     Some Christianized Norse folklore blurred Valkyries and angels together.
