this is the real question: do people believe it's cruelty or justice - BowserNoodle ☦️ likes this.

@nomebullyyou indeed. But some people say yes, we are required to be doormats; they'll come up with any number of reasons - and you can disprove any of them, but it won't change their mind, because those are all simply justifications for how they feel. -

@sickburnbro cruelty for who? Are we morally obligated to be masochistic doormats?

@shortstories @jb the population of people who are totally resistant to making bad decisions is much lower than you think. -

What if illegal drug traffickers are doing society a service by reducing the population of people who make bad decisions?
I am not endorsing doing illegal drug trafficking by saying this

Those that can’t stand the cruelty should go with them to ease their pain along the way -

@sickburnbro @shortstories @jb In earlier times bad decisions were often fatal, along with bad luck, of which there is an abundance, too.
Modern society protects us against much of that now so when it does happen to someone or a group of people it stands out a lot more. Back then it was, Sucks to be him, and then you'd get on with your own life because you didn't have the luxury to spend time or resources worrying about them lest you join them.

@petra @shortstories @jb This is true in part, but modern society also presents ways for people to harm themselves in ways that were undreamable in the past. -

@sickburnbro @petra @shortstories @jb Of course the other piece is the regime gating off non-bad choices ("Sorry goy, no good job, house, family, etc. for you, but hey, you can always OD on Chinese fent to distract yourself from the awful situation we put you in!" Bread up, Bro likes this. -

@EvilSandmich @petra @shortstories @jb right, it's the part that Paradise Lost got right - if you drug up a populace, they will suffer many indignities.
What they didn't realize is that they still actually need their people ( what a shame )
