It's pretty much consumer laptop vs business laptop. @PurpCat@clubcyberia.co did a ton of repairs and pretty much the P thinkpads mog MSI gayming laptops in quality, assuming you're okay spending 3x as much for the specs

zoom has been moving to plastic and removing the rubber from those cases also. but the rubber used to disentegrate from handling anyway. and when you're putting recorders on sticks and camera rigs.. mass is important. so i can't really fault them for going to plastic, since that's actually beneficial for pro gear in that context.

I personally use a P52 and it's quite good, the only downside are the thermals (had to add a bit of padding under the keyboard to avoid another meltdown) and it should last me another 3-4 years until my next upgrade (either add another 64gb of ram, or get a P53 or a Framework laptop :shrug_akko:) -

With the new desktop they've clearly showed that they don't care about repairability that much. A fact that was already disputed when they refused to send replacement parts outside of warranty to countries they don't officially ship to when a forwarding service was used. If they refuse to literally take your money for replacement parts with the ability to tell the customer "fuck off" later, imagine how their warranty process works. -
