  I think it might have been due to using Void Linux. Their RPI images aren't the best honestly. I've switched to use a rack of Intel NUCs. They have 10g NICs attached via Thunderbolt and run as a Proxmox cluster. They serve my data mining/hording purposes for now. Two hold a postgres master/slave pair, but they only have 4TB nvme. I have one db server built out with 3x raidz drives that's getting a replica set and hope to have a second built out this month so I no longer have to depend on storage on the NUCs.
  
  I should put the pi cluster back together at some point and try Kamal on them.

  Yeah man that is very true. I actually really like that distro but on pis....its a little shaky to say the least.
  
  I've been using armbian just because it's tailored to the hardware much like the stock raspi os is. There could have been a number of things going on that spanked your boards.

  Yeah that's what I have on on my main server board, so far been plenty. I have 2 2tb 4TB nvmes on two separate boards tho not connected.

  That's what ken is using on his boxes nowadays. I am using CRUX on basically all the ARM boards, and keeping the gcc version the same between them so that I can use them as a distcc cluster. The only shit that is slow to build on those machines now is stupid fucking Rust shit.

  It's the best server you can get, as it's free of proprietary malware, stable server grade hardware (even without proprietary microcode updates it's very stable) and very fast with acceptable power consumption (hardware really hasn't got that much faster since then either).
  
  Furthermore, used ECC DDR3 is very cheap, meaning you'll never be short on RAM.
