@SuperDicq Very nice.
It seems most insurers now would just write any vehicle off with such a moderate amount of damage. -

@Suiseiseki@freesoftwareextremist.com I did have to rely on insurance to transport my crashed car back from Switzerland to the Netherlands.
It took a while to convince them that it was worth it.
Their default way of deciding if you can get it back is:
Original sticker price minus depreciation minus the damages has to be greater than the transport cost
This obviously is a good calculation for people who own new and modern vehicles, but it does not work for older enthusiast or classic cars.
You can't just say "this car is worth less because it is older" when it comes to classic, or future classic cars.
Actually Mazda MX5s have literally only gone up in value the past 10 years or so when people realized these cars were actually really fun and not "gay" or "for girls" because they look a little cute.
So really what I did to convince the insurance as to show them my workshop, show them that I own basically all of the spare parts for this car and that fixing it will cost next to nothing (I only spent 200 euros in total on this repair so far). And I also mailed them listings of other Mazda MX5s for sale to give them an idea of the current asking price for one.
It was a lot of emails and phonecalls but I managed to get it home. -

@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe They're all jumbled up somewhere in a box in their attic with no manual.I mean most of my (childhood) Lego is still like this, jumbled together in boxes. But to be honest I can't blame my parents for that because that's what I did myself when I was a kid.
I usually built the set according to instructions, play with it a bit, then take it apart to make my own creations.
I'm also missing a lot of the instructions of my childhood Lego, but that's not really an issue as most of them can be found online.
I'm like halfway through sorting all of my childhood Lego at the moment, I do like one box a month maybe (I have a lot). -

My parents should be tried at The Hague for how they treat my LEGO sets man.

@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe I've never wanted to keep sets together to be honest. I enjoy building my own creations way too much to do that and if I need a part from an existing creation, it's coming apart.
That is still true today for me today as an adult. -

I mean, as a kid you destroy LEGO, sure, but I mean even set's I built as a teenager and try to keep together my parents just stacked them in boxes and put it in the attic, getting them broken apart and jumbled up. -

@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe If I wanted to build something and keep it together I build plastic model kits instead. Also a fun hobby.

@yomiel@new.asbestos.cafe It's alright, at least you're not one of those people that just buys Lego and doesn't even open the box because to keep it in "perfect condition" and "collector's value".
God, I hate these people. They are fucking plastic bricks bro, just fucking play with them. -

@SuperDicq
I've got the "keep it in perfect condition and follow the instructions" autism so I couldn't do this. I'm also not super creative, even as a child I struggled to build new creations off the top of my head.
