new HR buzzword is "revenge quitting" for leaving company at inopportune time.

why is that the company's fault?

    1. termination policies are set by company, not by employee
    2. company failed to retain employee
    3. employee has no moral obligation to go beyond contractual obligations seeing the company wouldn't be nice to them either

Nice passive violent buzzword they made here.

This is why you want a civilization that isn't based on Mercenary logic.

@lain the minimal requirements are. there's nothing that hinders "at will" state company to arrange something else with employee.

or German termination policies where some companies have idiotic 6m.

@kaia yeah, in these cases they have a lot to blame themselves for, especially if they don't even try to keep the people by giving them more money or whatever

@kaia Whether it's a real thing I don't know, but I think the point is the employee is not just leaving at a time that is convenient for them with no thought of the company's convenience, but is going out of their way to chose a time that's inconvenient for the company.

Of course, you can't let companies or people use their circumstances to compel work or employment. The solution is always for companies to treat the employees better, not rely on untrustworthy employees, and tie bonuses to performance at critical moments.

@kaia I was made redundant from COVID but HR were obviously looking at me based on how many times I was being picked on. I was able to stay on for just a few more months before the inevitable scale back to a skeleton crew when the lockdowns hit.

I had thought about 'revenge quitting' after the many years I had done more than was expected of me. The buyout by a company owned by private equity vampires was what catalysed my thought process.

@faraiwe @nicholas @kaia I hope you're not pretending that there was no employment and social coercion about taking the covid jabs, because there was. In the UK where I live I was turned down for two jobs because I didn't have any covid jabs. Another friend was told that if she did not have the jab then her job would be on the line. My parents were unable to travel to see my brother.
Do you have a problem with individuals having a say in their own medical treatments?

The people crying about 'revenge quitting' are the same people who invented the term 'constructive resignation' to label the people they fired for being unjabbed for no better reason than to try to deny them unemployment benefits after canning them.

I mean, and my point was much milder: I wasn't even taking a position on companies imposing mandates, I was merely pointing out that if you're going to fire someone for making their own healthcare decisions, you should at the very least own firing them. Trying to relabel it a "resignation" is big mood:
