Would anyone be interested in participating in a sort of retro gaming "book club" style group? Basically, picking a console era, voting on a game, then playing through it together and discussing it?

It seems like a fun idea. I want to call it "The Retro Retreat."

Wide open to ideas to bring it from conception to reality.

@killyourfm Count me in! I tried this with a couple of mates a while back when we had small kids. We picked a game, checked how many chapters it had, checked howlongtobeat and calculated how much we had to play each 1.5 weeks and then had a discussion about what we thought about the chapter or chapters

@killyourfm this is a really cool idea, but some games may be quite difficult to come by without spending enormous amounts of money these days.

@necrophcodr A very valid consideration. I think we can get by on emulation of games that are no longer for sale by publishers.

@killyourfm I'd be interested to know more. I used to host a retro gaming podcast and I miss that sort of experience.

What are you thinking for group size, discussion forum, sync or async, etc?

@lyonsinbeta I hear this, loudly. I *sincerely* miss having fun discussions about games, and I also miss podcasting (especially without the pressures of work or a deadline to stress about).

Admittedly, I don't have many answers yet in terms of groups size or discussion platform. I'd like to decide those with everyone who wants to participate. I do think a lot of it should be async, as that just fits easier into people's schedules. Maybe with a monthly group podcast/check-in chat?

@DEDGirl Pong was the first "console" I ever owned! But no, not quite that ancient. I think everything up to the 6th generation of consoles would be fair game (and maybe even some DOS classics?)
