@udongle @Hoss @duckitis I just consider it authoritarianism dictated by the state, who it's directed towards determines whether it's fascism or not

Currently it's just another security for them to gamble with. Want to put money in? Scan your dick. Want to take money out? Pay a pile of taxes. Try to skip either step? Straight to tax prison.

Hoss Delgado (hoss@shitpost.cloud)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:04:27 JST Hoss Delgado I think that's where Bitcoin will be a helpful addition. More people believe in it, more are willing to use it as a savings account. I think this will eventually lead to fiscal policy changes to keep the government solvent. -

Hoss Delgado (hoss@shitpost.cloud)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:04:28 JST Hoss Delgado Normies miss a lot, but even they eventually realize their dollar doesn't go as far as it used to. Unfortunately for them, I don't think Trump can do a lot to reverse that now. -

gentoobro (gentoobro@shitpost.cloud)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:04:28 JST gentoobro He caused a good deal of the inflation that Biden got the blame for. Unlimited spending is something both sides agree on. There's no reversing the inflation without reducing the Fed balance sheet to zero and parking the funds rate at 15% for a few decades.

Meanwhile In Ohio... (meanwhileinohio@nicecrew.digital)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:04:29 JST Meanwhile In Ohio... I think there's some amount of that, but I also think the last four years (starting with covid) have made enough of an impression in peoples' minds that there is no coasting. Based on my admittedly limited interactions with the world, I don't think we give normies enough credit. They want to try to work things out within the framework of existing institutions because the alternative of rebellion and war are pretty fucking dire. -

???? (praxisofevil@poa.st)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:04:31 JST ???? @Hoss @udongle @duckitis Well said, Trump's value isn't in his policies or rhetoric necessarily but how his presence seems to wake people up to the fact that things are not as stable as they think they are.

Hoss Delgado (hoss@shitpost.cloud)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:04:32 JST Hoss Delgado My whitepilled interpretation of Trump is that he's a stepping stone to something better. For his many faults, I appreciate the ways he's been a wrench thrown into the gears of Washington. There's a growing portion of this country that's been left behind and recognizes that. For a couple decades this cohort has been prodded into trying to find employ in white collar fields that are both highly competitive and diminishing rather than growing as they have claimed for just as long. It's not tenable anymore. You can't import Latinos for labor while smugly telling the same people being replaced to "learn to code" while importing Indians to replace those jobs too. Eventually, you'll leave those people with nothing. And in the Trump era they're starting to realize that's exactly what's happening. And for the elite, guess what? It's real hard to enjoy the fruits of your wealth in a civilization that is increasingly amenable to the idea of seeing you and your entire family hang for taking everything from the common man. -

Hoss Delgado (hoss@shitpost.cloud)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:04:33 JST Hoss Delgado I've long claimed authoritarianism is the best system under the custody of a philosopher king, as many smarter men than I such as Plato have claimed millennia before me. The problem is that philosopher kings are rare and their influence is rarely carried forward after their deaths. Tito is such an example of that. Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore is another whose legacy may prove more enduring. -

You can have a moderate amount of delusion without going proper insane, and you can believe as many lies as you want. Insanity comes when reality is slapping you in the face but you keep wearing two masks at the grocery store in 2024.

Hoss Delgado (hoss@shitpost.cloud)'s status on Saturday, 30-Nov-2024 12:10:10 JST Hoss Delgado He talks to the common man the same way he talks to anybody else, that's a big part of his magic. He's a billionaire, yeah, but he doesn't talk down to people like you'd expect a billionaire to. He honored the firefighter at his rally who took a bullet meant for him, a common man most billionaires wouldn't even give a second thought, considering how most of them crush thousands of men like that on a daily basis simply as a matter of doing business. -
