The more you look into the details of the alleged US approval for “long-range hits into Russia”, the more you realize this is 90% media hype:

    • #Ukraine only received short-range ATACMS variant with range limited to below 300 km; it’s more than MLRS or Soviet “Tochka-U” systems (~100 km) but the actual long-range ATAMCS is 500-1000 km
    • As clarified by Biden’s administration, the hits are now only authorised in #Kursk oblast’, which technically is outside of #Ukraine but…
    • …but in May 2024 US has already authorised [^1] hits in #Belgorod oblast to deter Russian continued rocket and artillery attacks on #Kharkiv

So the correct wording of this week’s top news should be something to the effect of: US authorised short-range ATACMS hits in Kursk oblast’ of Russia, and that’s it.

But hey, how would anyone could run around and scream of #WW3 with this kind of title? 😄

Current US policy prohibiting Ukraine from using US-provided weapons in the territory of the Russian Federation is severely compromising Ukraine's ability to defend itself against the renewed cross-border invasion Russia has recently launched in Kharkiv

You Americans weren’t so much eager to cease your land to Germany when Japan invaded in in 1941 so I don’t really understand your obsession with ceasing someone else’s lands to Putin who can’t even properly manage his own lands? Why would any sane person want any country to turn into Russia, as portrayed below? Why don’t you just fucking move there if you love spreading mud and rot?

If someone wants to kill you, preventing them from doing so is not “one sided”, it’s basic survival instinct. It seems like you’re this peculiar type of “political realist” that if Russians spit in your face you’d just look to the clouds and say “oh, rain is coming early today”.

Your “US exploited Ukraine” and “puppet government” arguments is the best evidence that you don’t know a shit about Ukraine or Russia. You’re just repeating whatever fables Russia has invented in the meantime and I can guarantee that if you continue this course, in 10 years you will deny that Russia started any war or invaded anyone - because that’s what they will be claiming.

As a matter of fact, Ukraine of all countries earned their independence 100% by the anger and sacrifice of their own people - in 2013 a million (!) of people participated in the Euromaidan protest, which was initially exclusively about Yanukovych sudden and treacherous switch from association with EU to a forcible switch to Russia’s decaying CIS. This guaranteed economic decline of Ukraine, but also provided maybe 10 more years of pretending CIS is alive, which Putin wanted for his personal glory. Meanwhile, Ukrainians for decades watches Poland economy growing in EU while theirs, closely associated with Russia, was stagnating.

Ukrainians told Putin to fuck off, so Russia did the only thing that they can do to convince others - send riot police with batons, breaking jaws and bones. That worked with Russians in 2012, but not with Ukrainians, who stood their ground in freezing winter for three months. And that’s only when EU and US politicians started their cautious visits to “deescalate” - and Russians did not have to visit, because they were there in Kyiv all the time, which doesn’t seem to be a problem for you.

Then Ukrainian opposition signed an agreement about new elections with president Yanukovych, which Russia presented as “an armed coup” and evacuated Yanukovych to Russia. On the photo below you can see “the coup” happening:

The Deeps State in the US exploited Ukraine, and Russia says no fucking way are you going to put this next to our border. So the EU installed a puppet government, and decided that a few million dead, wounded and PTSD cases worth their efforts.

      This is what I see.

Russia says no fucking way are you going to put this next to our border

“Put”… what exactly “next to our border”? Because you only hear the Russian bullshit about “NATO bases” and possibly “biolabs” (but I doubt you were retarded enough to believe that one).

But you know what? Ukraine already had neutrality (no NATO) hardcoded in their constitution in 2014, when Russia first invaded it. Russia invaded not “because of NATO” but specifically because Ukraine was not in NATO.

And when Finland and Sweden joined NATO - again, because of Russian invasion on Ukraine - then Putin said, guess what… he doesn’t have any problem with that! So before, he unrolled a whole drama about “NATO on his borders” when Ukraine wasn’t even going to join it… and when Sweden and Finland joined (the latter bordering Russia) it suddenly was no problem. Silly, isn’t it?

So yeah, Putin definitely has a problem with something at his border, but it’s not NATO.

The real cause of the war in 2014 was #Ukraine’s refusal to join CIS. And Ukraine refused, because CIS was and is dead - it’s a USSR 2.0 with stagnating economy led by kleptocratic, degenerate elites and massive income inequality.

It’s not a coincidence I’ve brought up this chart of Ukraine vs Poland GDP per capita, because it 100% demonstrates the true cause for #Euromaidan - in 1991 they both started from the same level, but Poland has gradually overcome Ukraine (and even Russia, with its massive hydrocarbons income). There was a very simple reason for that - the common market in EU and rule of law. People in Poland and Ukraine are working just as hard, they’re pretty much the same people genetically and culturally… except their income in Ukraine was largely funneled out by Russian-Ukrainian oligarchy, fostered by Putin’s kleptocracy.

So why Putin can’t just let go off Ukraine? It’s also very simple - because if Ukraine grew as much economically as Poland just behind Russia’s border, then his own serf society could start asking questions. Why they have to live in shitty mud holes without proper sewage, when apparently “the same people” in Ukraine have everything?

you can do is “support” one side or the other.

I do not “support” in double quotes. I’ve literally sent equipment worth thousands of dollars to Ukraine since 2022, and I know people who fight there in person. These guys were IT managers or builders before fucking Russia invaded them, and they’ve done the only logical thing - took arms and defended their land.

who turned thousands of square miles between Ukraine and Russia into a cemetery.

No US deep state “turned thousands of square miles between Ukraine and Russia into a cemetery”. It was decision of one man in Kremlin executed with hands with his generals. US support for Ukraine was lukewarm, from the beginning - and that includes 2014. Obama was even worse, he was desperately seeking “deescalation” all the time, even when fucking Russians downed a passenger plane MH17 killing almost 300 people he was speaking “of tragic event” without naming those who pulled the trigger.

WHEN is the next ELECTION in Ukraine or in Russia

In Russia - never. That’s the very point of this war. People in Russia can’t really vote for anyone, because there’s no free media, no free elections and if you say “no war”, you’re jailed. You don’t seem to comprehend it, do you?

not willing to go outside the Rule of Law,

That’s the very point too - Putin does not respect any law. So your expectation that every Russia’s neighbour sheepishly respects any written or unwritten “rules”, while Russia does whatever they like, is rather childish.

I assume you are not a Ukraine or a Russian citizen. So you cannot vote, the best you can do is "support" one side or the other.

Here in the US its taking us decades to try and get rid of the Deep State, the SAME INDIVIDUALS who turned thousands of square miles between Ukraine and Russia into a cemetery.

Tell me, WHEN is the next ELECTION in Ukraine or in Russia to REPLACE the fuckers who caused and who are sustaining this war?

You see, everyone is wondering why there is not a "civil war" in the US. Why all these "conservative Christians" are so fucking sheepish, taking all the abuse?

It is because in Trump we have a leader who is not willing to go outside the Rule of Law, no matter the abuse and the destruction.

This is why the US at least still have meaningful elections, no matter how corrupt and crooked they are.

You - as an outsider to the Ukraine - Russia war - could do much better.

The primary idea of any reporting is to report what you see. I’ve been going to Russia and Ukraine for 20+ years, so what I’m reporting most frequently is the miserable cult of Russian mob that I see in some Western, especially US, circles. You guys usually declare conservative and Christian values which makes it double ridiculous, because there’s nothing less “conservative” and “Christian” than Russian elites today.

Part of the problem is that Ukraine is not being supplied and permitted all weapons they need to repel Russian invasion. If they were, the war would be over in 2022 when Russians were running in panic from Kharkiv and Kherson oblast’.

Which is precisely why Ukraine applies technical ingenuity to build their own game-changing weapons. The FPV drones compensated lack of artillery, long-range drones and “Neptune” missiles compensated for lack of ATACMS. They’re hitting Russia where it hurts with or without Western support.

I know what you mean, but that’s why I highlighted the cultural component. Putin’s claim of “cultural identity” between Russians and Ukrainians was a drastic distortion specifically because Ukrainians do not share the collective society and authoritarian submission of Russians, which he tried to imply. And this is specifically the aspect - individualism and peer governance - in which we Poles are very similar to Ukrainians.

@lxo That’s true and that has been voiced many time by US and German leaders - not in a rather sinister wording of “endless war” but in a much more reasonable-sounding wording of “not letting Ukraine lose but also not letting Putin lose too dramatically”. The idea behind the latter is that if he loses, he will start a world nuclear war or something. I think it’s a mistake that is only driven by continued Western naivety about Putin willing to agreeing to some kind of “peace plan” in long term, which he is not and he says that quite clearly. The side effect is also that thousands of people will die on both side before he eventually loses anyway.
