Your “US exploited Ukraine” and “puppet government” arguments is the best evidence that you don’t know a shit about Ukraine or Russia. You’re just repeating whatever fables Russia has invented in the meantime and I can guarantee that if you continue this course, in 10 years you will deny that Russia started any war or invaded anyone - because that’s what they will be claiming.
As a matter of fact, Ukraine of all countries earned their independence 100% by the anger and sacrifice of their own people - in 2013 a million (!) of people participated in the Euromaidan protest, which was initially exclusively about Yanukovych sudden and treacherous switch from association with EU to a forcible switch to Russia’s decaying CIS. This guaranteed economic decline of Ukraine, but also provided maybe 10 more years of pretending CIS is alive, which Putin wanted for his personal glory. Meanwhile, Ukrainians for decades watches Poland economy growing in EU while theirs, closely associated with Russia, was stagnating.
Ukrainians told Putin to fuck off, so Russia did the only thing that they can do to convince others - send riot police with batons, breaking jaws and bones. That worked with Russians in 2012, but not with Ukrainians, who stood their ground in freezing winter for three months. And that’s only when EU and US politicians started their cautious visits to “deescalate” - and Russians did not have to visit, because they were there in Kyiv all the time, which doesn’t seem to be a problem for you.
Then Ukrainian opposition signed an agreement about new elections with president Yanukovych, which Russia presented as “an armed coup” and evacuated Yanukovych to Russia. On the photo below you can see “the coup” happening:
