“By adopting and murdering children every week, a sufficiently lazy employee could create an infinite vacation machine” is the most amazing synthesis of HR bullshit and First Principles Engineering Brain I have ever witnessed. No notes.

      The Stallman report
October 14th, 2024 Richard Stallman (aka “RMS”) is the founder of GNU and the Free Software Foundation and present-day voting member of the Free Software Foundation (FSF) board of directors and “Chief GNUisance” of the GNU project. He is responsible for innumerable contributions to the free software movement, setting its guiding principles, organizing political action, and directly contributing to a flourishing free software ecosystem. The majority of Stallman’s political activity has been of priceless value to society at large.

@eaton Not surprised he wasn't paying attention when the teacher said that A Modest Proposal is satire...

When RMS made a nuisance of himself at a sff convention where an acquaintance was volunteering, the volunteers went to the grocery store and bought broccoli to make corsages for femme-presenting people. RMS apparently hates broccoli, so he spent the weekend staring at femme people's breasts, only to be repelled by the broccoli.

@kataclyst I use and release GPL licensed software, so I’m not casting shade per se, but that line did make some things about the GPL make more sense

@eaton The, “if we give people raises, the logical conclusion is that we’d have to pay everyone infinity dollars” took my breath away.

@jornane @jwz The snippet from the report by a FSF staffer was the factual component, “murder powered vacation machine” was my paraphrase, yes. :D

@eaton @jwz I can’t find that quote (the one about murdering) in the source. Is it Stallman’s quote or yours?
