I have been paying attention to a bunch of "anti-woke" people on YouTube. Every single one is a detestable person and a grifter. But it was useful to do this because they report on their ideological polar opposites, who are equally detestable and actually have power.
A fascinating aspect of this is that a lot of celebrities are weighing in on movie flops. They are convinced (well, I don't think they're smart enough to really think through their conclusions) that a small group of anti-woke cranks are making certain movies unpopular with general audiences, causing them to fail. This idea, if you follow the reasoning out loud, is pretty stupid and unbelievable. The movies were just bad and nobody wanted to see them.
I am not sure but I am starting to suspect that they are minor investors and are trying to find someone to blame and not their own judgment.

@sun why do you pay attention to these people at all? What difference do you hope this will make in your life?
-

@RustyCrab about 99% of them are still too intolerable to even watch

@sun @RustyCrab so you think we're finally reaching some kind of tipping point in political culture?
-
Embed this notice
@genmaicha @RustyCrab we are reaching a political tipping point because multiple politicians are openly attacking the first amendment. this is a big change because my entire life before this they had to at least pay it lip service

Excellent strategy. But I find personally after doing that a while I get burnt out from ping pong between one group of insane retards and the other, and have to switch it up by watching tutorials on non-political topics like botany and so on. Otherwise I just fine myself getting increasingly angry and feel as if my brain is slowly melting to mush in order to join the lowest common denominator.

@thatbrickster I have a ton more tolerance for right wing or reactionary stupidity than left wing. youtube is so bad. it ought to teach anyone that left wing people are just not smarter at all.

@sun A few come to mind. I have the same issue with some political commentators on either side of the divide. They think they're being insightful when they're saying the same few things in different ways.

@sun @genmaicha every time you say this you are merely citing one of the dips in this 400 hours in MS paint on android graph. It's been this way for my entire adult life. Nothing will get better until the entirety of the US collapses.

@thatbrickster if you a) know things need to change and b) don't think a failed 20th century mass murdering ideology is the solution then you are smarter than someone with a phd voting for kamala in the ways of being smart that matter. at least temporarily

@sun I'm finding that last part to be true. The people I read from or listen to, who are most qualified (they're PhDs or whatever), happen to be 'right-wing thinkers'. Even Uncle Ted outlined the leftist archetype in his 1995 book that's still accurate to this day.

@sun @thatbrickster the rightwing is more tolerable only because we know them already. I feel much more stable around these parts knowing that the worst that'll happen to me for platforming trans people is that I'll be called a faggot alot. Likewise, I know what the mastodon side does to you when you slip up and still have enough self-respect to not immediately fall to your knees and profusely appologize

The way you get a really good score in Hotline Miami is to just do the most retarded thing you can, with no regard for whether or not it's retarded. Hopefully things don't get so chaotic that this is the best strategy in general.

@lewdthewides @sun @thatbrickster This is a mistake. The trans people you are platforming can be in a lot of danger if the right gets more political power. There's a lot of downside possible.

@sun @lewdthewides @thatbrickster what is real ? if real is what the government thinks your name is, then maybe no. but in the 21st century your name being associated with your identity for long enough means that it doesn't matter if you use your 'real name' or not, its your identity imho

@jeffcliff @lewdthewides @thatbrickster what is the name that you would have put on an envelope to receive correspondence from your federal government

@sun @lewdthewides @thatbrickster when the RCMP calls me 'themusicgod1' that line gets really blurry
the data brokers know who you are, and what screennames you use
and the US government esp under trump but certainly under biden too have no problem in using it to get ahold of you
if the right starts with their "let's round up the untouchables and kill/deport them" plan *as they are openly talking about at the highest levels* they will come for people with screen names just the same

@sun I'm not entirely unconvinced that they're aren't affecting things at all, but it's still probably mostly through people starting to slowly notice, word of mouth and the "other side" having this much power and being extremely openly detestable
In the end, the actual only chance people have at stopping this dead in its track is to be principled and stop giving all of this money as much as you can

Excellent advice. Conversely, trying to play through levels meticulously and carefully is a really bad idea. It's no fun spending 10 minutes trying to beat a level only to mess up and die. Better to speedrun it repeatedly and then eventually clear it in less than a minute.
