It's not a wild new concept like the Nintendo Wii or something. -

Does the Switch 2 bring anything new to the table other than the naturally faster hardware or better screen? -

So I don't consider this a selling point.

Top of the hop (on Mumble) (emoisdeadandsoami@mastodon.bv.linksjugend-solid.de)'s status on Wednesday, 18-Sep-2024 21:57:20 JST Top of the hop (on Mumble) @SuperDicq @coolboymew I agree that it seems kinda lazy but just offering the huge switch legacy software library with actually acceptable framerates and resolutions is still a strategy that will probably give Nintendo a few more safe and stable years until they have to come up with a new thing.
They could also make new software using all the new power but lets be real they will probably publish everything cross-gen for the next 5 years -

They just got the gamecube hardware, overclocked it and put it on a new process node, plus added typical computer features like Wi-Fi and bluetooth.
The remote wasn't really a wild new concept, as they originally used only accelerometers to gauge which direction the remote was swung in and an IR pointer to work out which way the remote was pointing - things that had be done before, although not put together into a bluetooth remote. -
