Ukraines strategiske træk overraskede alle – nu betaler russerne prisen
Ukraine's strategic move took everyone by surprise - now the Russians are paying the price
I don't want to contradict the experts, but there is a possibility they are gathering forces for one last big offensive or something, however, I think their air offensive will continue with the help of their allies and then it doesn't really matter if their army has stalled.

Viking Chieftain (vikingchieftain@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 05:57:08 JST Viking Chieftain Russia's air force has been as underperforming as its ground forces.
Ukraine ought to make medals for incompetence and send them to the Russian Ministry of Defence so that its officers can have another piece of metal to hang on their chests.

Anders Puck Nielsen (anderspuck@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 05:57:10 JST Anders Puck Nielsen @kimwulff I think so too but I don’t think the Russian air campaign is particularly successful. It’s been going on for two years now and Ukraine still gains new capabilities.

kim wulff (kimwulff@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 05:57:13 JST kim wulff @anderspuck @VikingChieftain No, I believe that the Russian air war will continue unabated and unabated, despite being stalled on the battlefield. And I imagine they might be moving pieces from Donetsk up to Kursk to do something about that, but that's just guesswork.

Anders Puck Nielsen (anderspuck@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 05:57:15 JST Anders Puck Nielsen @kimwulff I am not sure I understand what you mean. You think the Russian air campaign will be decisive, so it doesn't matter if their ground campaign is stalling?

Viking Chieftain (vikingchieftain@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 05:57:17 JST Viking Chieftain Yes, the presence of Ukrainian forces in Kursk will be a thorn in Putin's side, no matter how much Russian propaganda tries to play down the significance of the Ukrainian counter-offensive there.
And yes, there are rumours that the Ukrainians are cooking up something for the Russians, so we'll just have to wait and see what they're served.

kim wulff (kimwulff@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 06:01:41 JST kim wulff @anderspuck Well it touches the civilian opinion and attitude towards the war, it does something, but no, it doesn't seem to affect the war effort right now. But it is probably also to keep the pot boiling until the Russians can resume actions on the battlefield.

Anders Puck Nielsen (anderspuck@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 06:16:36 JST Anders Puck Nielsen @VikingChieftain @kimwulff I think Russia has had tactical success with aviation on the frontlines but the ranged campaign has been a fiasco because it has been based on wrong assumptions about what will work and how they can win the war.

I fully agree. This thing of not giving the Ukrainians all the tools they need to finish the job and forcing them to tie one hand behind their back as they fight for their country's independence and the survival of their people will go down in the history books as cowardice on the part of the Western powers.

kim wulff (kimwulff@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 23:00:04 JST kim wulff @VikingChieftain @anderspuck Yes, there is no doubt that the Russian Luftwaffe is conspicuous by its absence, and they are certainly not missed. But the fact that they continue to terror bomb is not okay, therefore Ukraine should be allowed to use weapons far into Russia (against air bases, depots and everything else war important).

Viking Chieftain (vikingchieftain@krigskunst.social)'s status on Sunday, 08-Sep-2024 23:00:06 JST Viking Chieftain The fact that they didn't manage to achieve air superiority at the start of the war tells you something about the state of the Russian Air Force. They took out some of the fixed air defences, but they failed to follow up. Yes, they've done some tactical bombing, but they've made up for the lack of precision (due to releasing them far away) with bigger bombs. They've got a bit better though. I'll give them that.
