Imagine hiring anybody who has recent video game industry jobs on their resume in the current year.

@ooignignoktoo @coolboymew @Hoss @apropos @c Easy. They were smaller, more tight-knit teams of people that loved games and made stuff for other people that loved games. They had pride in what they made. Modern devs put the game itself second at best and the teams are bloated bureaucracies and for every person that actually wants to make a good game, you have five that either want to bloviate about their political beliefs or stomp the last egg out of the golden goose so they can use "maximizing value" as a resume padder when they fuck off to a more reputable industry.

-People can just, you know, play old games. Zoomers and younger are finding that out now
that sounds like me with a $1,500 computer I built 3.5 years ago and I'm playing Grand Theft Auto 2 from 1999 on it and having fun with it. Newer games really lack something that older games have.

@c @coolboymew @Hoss yep when you see someone else making incredible amounts of money, the correct thought to have is "I can make less incredible money with a worse product, and it'll still be my biggest money-maker ever!"
Stardock can only barely pull that off. You're no Stardock, Sony. You have too much overhead and too large a DEI department.

@apropos @Hoss @c The product couldn't have launched at a worst time
-Overwatch failing due to Ubisoft's bullshit, and there's been like thousands attempts at shitty hero shooters
-Marvel style heroes and interactions when it's currently falling off hard and everyone is sick of this shit
-DEI shit is basically under fire as ever, loads of companies are attempting to quietly rebrand and it's not really working
-Everyone else seems to be waking up to the live service games bullshit
-People can just, you know, play old games. Zoomers and younger are finding that out now
-Cost of living and yadda yadda
-Sony is already hated for years of bullshit and considering what they pulled during Helldrivers 2's steam release, lmao. Sony has practically very little goodwill going on

They should make a Fortnite clone to be released in 2030. Invest everything. I've got a good feeling.

@Hoss of course the apologizing comes from PC Gamers
Nobody would be grave dancing on it if it wasn't obvious looking slop where every characters has been thoroughly beaten by the DEI stick by Sony's "ethics" department, that has increasingly been overstepping their boundaries in several games for years now, and also harassing the anime games... But on top of that it's an obvious Overslop clone that's about a fucking decade late to the party so they can get that sweet sweet live service money
This game is basically the absolute epitome of what everyone is sick as fuck of seeing and Sony completely deserves the 200 million dollars L for it, so of course everyone is happily grave dancing on it. Jesus Christ
