     and if stuff is simply grammatically confusing or a pure cultural disconnect, you can leave it as is and Westerners will watch it and think "boy those Japanese folks are different haha I sure enjoy this show!" which is how things always went.

     @Goalkeeper @blueknightfrank They do have very different idioms than us with basically no contextual way to understand it.

     Okay I don't eat those nor grind them and I don't know that it basically means brown-nosing or something unless I look it up. MAYBE I can get it from context but odds are I'll not know if it's just referenced once and might assume it means flirting or joking or being a dick.

     Also I am 99.9% sure anyone who gives a shit about anime will understand a reference to another anime in a show or will look it up. That's what we used to do. Good fucking luck watching Lucky Star or Pani Poni Dash otherwise.
