@icedquinn worth being mad about it once I guess

@sun When they start talking about it all I can think is "You're still watching Star Wars?"
-

@sun Not even judging them for being dweebs or whatever, I watch some childish shit, but Star Wars has been so bad for so long that it's already dead. Whatever good was in the first couple movies has been squandered for 40 years.

@J yeah I am completely over it and I think anyone who liked Star Wars and doesn't like the changes should be completely over it by now.

@dictatordave @J Star Wars is actually interesting to me because it tested the "it didn't ruin the old ones" theory and...I think I found out that you can actually ruin enjoyment of the old ones with new crappy updates, haha. closing the book on that chapter of my life

@sun @J i just think of it as a couple movies that were some media i enjoyed as a kid and that's where i leave it
its pretty hilarious how some people get so invested and angry, like just consider it fanfic and move on, and if one is going to be angry, be angry about the sloppy shoe horning in general, not that some movie series that was made for children is being 'ruined', you can still watch the ones from the 70s in a vacuum lol, they havn't done ai editing to make everyone a troon, yet, and maybe that's an avenue for augmented reality tech huh.

@J @dictatordave some people really liked what the books did.

@dictatordave @sun I get why people are like this with Mordor, or actual mythology, but I don't get how Star Wars has a whole "universe" that people care about.
It's always been cheap commercial crap. I like the original movies too, though Idk if I'll ever watch them again, but there's just not that much to it. It's a typical action movie with good set pieces.

@sun @J there's so much chad shit out there anyway
a buddy of mine got me into italian westerns, they're so bonkers, as in they love using lots of explosives and the stories are rad, same goes for james bond flicks, been enjoying those lately
but i'm also putting on a masters course for my 2 little kids, i figure if i propagandize them with conan and farm videos they'll turn out just fine

@sun @dictatordave For me it's not even the new material that ruins the old movies, it's the culture around it. I don't want to think about how controversial and shit everything is I just want to watch a movie.

@sun @dictatordave I guess, but most of those didn't even need to be Star Wars. They just used the brand as a marketing vehicle, so Idk if it should be evaluated the same way as the actual series.

@ChristiJunior @sun I'm pro-culture-warfare, but anti-caring about Star Wars.

@sun Given today's state of affairs, the alternative to a Culture *War* is Culture *Surrender*. The problem is entertainment and pop culture becoming ever more gay, ugly and brown, ever more aggressively pushing leftist propaganda, not that people are complaining about it. The real problem is the Right not being pushing back hard ENOUGH - yes, it's 100% morally justified to boycott, blacklist and harass cultural vandals, culture matters, art matters, in fact, it matters a hell of a lot more than the life of the average left-liberal.

@ChristiJunior @sun there is obviously a balance here. the conservatives did nothing for decades about things and it got to the point where we are now.
What they did support was individual grumbling about it that got nowhere.
What happened was that leftists owned "cool" for a long time by setting themselves up as the rebels against a stodgy system.
The problem for them now is that they still want to rely on hollywood to produce that for them, but their characterization of boring old white men who run everything is pretty obviously fake, and now people are beginning to pine for that past when things made sense.

@rlier23 @sun culture war countersignalers will be regarded as enemy sympathizers and will be treated as such

@sun You know what?
Yeah sure i accept your terms
Next is fucking hanging your for siding with the enemy

@Vidmastereon @rlier23 @sun you can definitely end up wasting your life alogging Disney wars and that should be avoided, but its unambiguously a good thing when large numbers of people publicly voice displeasure when mass media, especially from a family oriented property like Star Wars, is being used to propagate evil ideologies.

@Vidmastereon @jimmybuffettfanaccount @rlier23 yeah it's a rotting corpse there's nothing left to care about
-

@jimmybuffettfanaccount @sun @rlier23 you should be focusing on denying your enemy ground no matter how small and taking it back when you get the chance but for things like star wars which is essentially a rotting corpse you should be radicalizing the disillusioned normies and burying the body that is really starting to smell

@ChristiJunior @nach there are only 24 hours in the day to be angry and there so many things to be angry about now that I have to be selective and the rotting corpse of star wars doesn't make the cut

@sun if it only ended just at star wars :dead:
-

@ChristiJunior @nach more or less yeah, the reason I said what I said was star wars is such junk and so frivolous its no longer worth even getting upset over
-
Embed this notice
@sun @nach So it's a "Star Wars sucks, who cares?" thing, and you agree that the culture war itself is important and worth fighting?
-
Embed this notice
@ChristiJunior @nach I am becoming a "pick your battles" person now, and the fact that a lot of this is just pushed by youtube grifters with no other goal than making money off it.
-

@sun @nach Okay, then I definitely got the wrong impression from the OP, which I read as dismissing the culture war itself as stupid, and culture war rhetoric as something to be avoided on principle.
Still don't agree with your Star Wars point tho, because it used to be one of the biggest and most iconic entertainment franchises in existence, and even now serves as an excellent example of what leftist agenda-pushing and propaganda actually does to a franchise, which justifies other fanbases taking a zero tolerance stance on these things.
