@amiserabilist@glasspusher yep. Unfortunately he said some pretty antisemitic stuff recently. It's okay to be resistant to this "war". But to say you straight up hate Jews is fucking wild....🤦♂️
Then he bit the dust.
Im surprised, I actually expected him to make a new account elsewhere. However, I haven't seen him and we've had a decent friendship.🤷♂️
@BeAware@amiserabilist@glasspusher I can't trust anyone who makes anti-Semitic remarks. They usually turn out to be gross racists, and their anti-Semitism is the tip of the iceberg.
@thepoliticalcat@amiserabilist@glasspusher well, in my experience over several months with him, this was the bottom of the iceberg. He's been relatively on the good side of things. He just went off a couple nights ago and it caught me completely by surprise when I read it back.
To be clear, I didn't say that I searched for him AFTER I found out about the antisemitic remarks. Quite the opposite. Unless he shows up and expresses apologies and explains why he was wrong, I'll probably just block him if he comes around. I don't need that kinda hate in my life.
@BeAware@amiserabilist@glasspusher Sad when that happens to someone you thought you knew, tho. A friend dropped by to say hi one evening and brought her boyfriend along. He KNEW I had Jewish relatives. Nevertheless, sometime during the evening, he made remarks I cannot repeat, deeply wounding remarks that resulted in me booting him out of my house. She and I did not speak for a while after that.
I've been subject to different but similar experiences of "not being who I thought they were". The worst of which was an "ex-girlfriend" manipulating me, telling me that her and her husband was in an open relationship, when eventually after moving in their house and living there for awhile, I found out the opposite. Regretfully, I left the house emotionally and when I went back, the house was locked and I was never allowed entry back in to get the rest of my stuff. I lost 4k+ worth of property with that because I had to move back home, 500 miles away and didn't have the funds to fight them as I wasn't on the lease and had almost no proof I was living there.😔
People suck sometimes. I have social anxiety and PTSD after that. I find it really hard to make new friends IRL. So, it does sting a bit more when I find out things like this now.😢
@thepoliticalcat@amiserabilist@glasspusher you did nothing wrong, friend. I live with this memory every day. It's my reality unfortunately. I do hope to find those people. People here are kind and welcoming, but I feel as if there's so much bad going on all the time, it's hard to take time to appreciate everyone.
I think the kindness I would need to see, would be extraordinary in today's world, and that's unfortunate to say.
@BeAware@amiserabilist@glasspusher So sorry. I didn't mean to make you miserable. Yes, there are some awful people in the world. OTOH, every now and then you come across an absolute gem of a human being, and they restore your trust and make you feel like it IS worth it, dammit, life is beautiful, and complex, but still, worth it. 💐
