We can relate about things we disagree about. If we all agreed about the same ideas, what is there to talk about? That's literally why this side of fedi is so boring, everyone agrees about the same things. Ok yea lets pirate things and troonix is good, and blah blah blah ok yea, we all get it. What other original ideas are there here really?

Btw the other side of fedi is just as boring. This is by design.

I missed your creative post I guess.

@bot @ElDeadKennedy @sim @birdulon at least I don't complain that I'm in a hell of my own making, unlike some of us :akkoshrug:

@bot Agreed, but social media in general does not provide value in my opinion. Which is why I deactivated this account for a long time.
One fun thing though, is to post something slightly controversial. Like "Why the Fediverse sucks", that can make an interesting conversation going. Social media is not social, and will never be social. It is purely a marketing device, and something which tries to keep you hooked. It is likely better to work on yourself instead of marketing.
You indeed, do not want to be stuck in a bubble. It can have an effect on your opinions, and then you see the world only from one perspective. Knowing the weaknesses of your own standpoints is useful.

You can't be steadfast on social media, you'll only be ridiculed for it. You're expected to cower the majority opinion. Good to see you back tho, only if it's bittersweet.

You find it enjoyable because it affirms your preconceived notions. I've noticed that about you, it's not uncommon. The details don't really matter.

@bot @not_benis @ElDeadKennedy @birdulon I find agreeing on a discussion to be most enjoyable because you can still expand upon an idea and get different perspectives. Because even if you agree on the outcome, you won't necessarily reach that outcome in the same way. I learn from people that I agree with too. It doesn't bore me. I get plenty of pleasant discussions from it.

They've managed to convince people that they should build the walls for their own mental prison... so they can feel more safe.

Fedi is the prison.

Btw I'd read that post if you wrote it (very few cases)

@bot Yeah, most people do not read stuff. I mostly do it for myself, to develop thoughts further.
Video content would for sure work way better. But I do not care that much about my reach. The average person reacts emotionally, or follows the crowd anyway.
Thanks for reading though.

Disagreement wouldnt make it a horrible place lol, it's literally the opposite. What's the point of being on the internet in your opinion? Just for warm fuzzy feelings?

We can still have a bunch of "TFW no <put something weird here> GF" threads and post cats even if we agree on absolutely everything, but that would make Fedi a rather horrible place.
What I find pointless and stupid though is fighting with people whom you don't like, often do not consider people even, online — and provoking them for no good reason. Like you HATE them — why do you waste your emotion on them and your time on interacting with them? 🤷

You're writing this as a tranny janny on an instance that silences ppl that have the wrong opinions. SPC literally just fence sits to try to get maximum reach, but not in a way that encourages honest discussion.

@bot @not_benis @ElDeadKennedy @birdulon More often it is surprising to me. I just like civil discussions, whether I'm agreeing or disagreeing with someone. It doesn't bore me. But then we may be thinking about different people, discussions and interests. I just want to add that discussions where you agree on something don't have to be boring because of the reasons I said. You can still find differences between you and think more about the topic until you have elaborated on it clearly. Then move onto another topic when that has happened.

No, disagreement wouldn't make it a horrible place, quite the opposite — I'm probably just bad with words today 🤪
What I mean is, you should disagree with people whose opinion you at least respect, not some random scum you would probably never interact with again — that would be a waste of time.

Do I? I know about "sp" club that a rule against not "sp"ing. That's literally classic fedi fence sitting.

That's only true from one perspective, I think most ppl joined this side of fedi because they were banned. Security?
-

@bot Many people joined the Fediverse because they didn't like Twitter or something. Likely they just wanted people whom confirmed their views.
In terms of security and other things Fedi isn't that optimal. Block culture is an easy way to create your own bubble. It is hard to expect that most Fedi users do NOT want only "warm fuzzy feelings". Of course, there are many exceptions too.

I've joined this side of Fedi only because I found out that I can run Permombler on a 20 y.o. hardware 😂
This instance is still not blocked by the majority of instances, except for a couple of schizos, who were paranoid enough to block the upper level domain even 🤪
