  The AC from original flavor was based on math that is no longer taught, basically. Kids today can't think in those terms. Your THAC0 is 16 and your opponent has an AC of 5? You need 11 or better. -3? You need a 19. 0-based sliding scale.

I can confirm that negative armor class doesn't put you in the realm of Socrates or Tesla for brain power and it was annoying. I wrote my own system that got kickstart funded so I have a bit of knowledge in the game design sphere (not saying I'm the be-all end-all) and love these discussions.
