I'm just saying that Russia was slowly integrating with the west even if only for economic reasons, they were consuming a lot of western propaganda, the media and culture. They were investing in Europe and the elites were cosier with each other, had deals and some similar politics with each other. Now that has been set back. If you can convince Russia to join your cause, then there is less friction with the rest of Eastern Europe. If you want conflict to continue in Europe then you target them. -

just look at germany and afd as an example. what was a pretty irrelevant fringe party magically gained the financing and talking points to become a cultural phenomenon. russia has been taking advantage of germans' understandable anger at their government and pouring it into fringe parties via free press (read: propaganda. why has rt been so interested in a far-right party?) and financing. it's such a coincidence that afd is extremely russia friendly. almost like they're taking their money (they are) and are just a mouthpiece on those issues. haha. what a coincidence haha. truly wild and crazy.
there is a reason why putin has embraced the globalhomo talking points, despite FAGGOTS serving at top positions in the gosduma and other "organs", and the incredible respect of family values that putin has shown to navalny's mother via his underling (read: humiliating and berating a mother for having the gall to want to bury her son humanely). it's a really convenient way to manipulate westerners who are completely unaware that their own concerns are being turned against them. it's natural to hate your government for doing woke political stunts and ignoring issues you care about. it's not natural for those feelings to be weaponized and used against you. your "perspective" is astroturfed and manipulated by experts who have been doing this shit for decades. it's not your fault for not being equipped to handle the sheer amount of disinfo thrown at you daily. it's just frustrating that you start to accept some of it as fact -

You don't have to resort to insults. I get that this is a sensitive topic overall and this isn't the first time that you have responded like this when this topic has come up. I don't know what appeasement you want from this thread, it's not enough to say that Russia is bad or that I can understand from an Eastern European perspective why Russian influence is bad. But I will be coming at this from a Western European perspective which is going to be different. We just don't have the same shared history here which means that we prioritise things differently. -

sim@shitposter.club's status on Wednesday, 06-Mar-2024 06:43:02 JST sim @lebronjames75 @augustus @lain You must be kidding yourself if you don't think that this is where the rest of Europe will be heading towards. When Poland rebelled, there were threats by the EU. Right now, the most they could do is threaten and add economic sanctions. They don't have the army that some of them do want which would let them include force for not complying. I've seen some of the fear-mongering about decisions Poland made for themselves and how bad this is. There is also a fear about Europe becoming more right-wing or nationalist, probably dating back to world war fears in Europe.
Things are more entrenched where I am. I don't think that leaving the EU solves all our problems by any means. But it should have given us more freedom to self-determine and create our own laws or go back to older common laws which support our freedom. The EU were increasingly infringing on our laws. I don't think that is made up as they have created a lot of laws over time. My government going harder on these things doesn't mean that the EU weren't deciding laws. Their interference isn't helping matters but legitimising it. The government should be listening to the public/citizens of their country, not to the EU or all these geopolitics whether it is Russia or the US. -

because those 1984-adjacents are not part of the required things for EU.
it's part of the local country, it's a STATE-wide issue, and blaming the EU for the UK taking in 100 000 immigrants when other countries in the EU just - didnt do that - with no reprecussions - is kind of ultimate proof of it being rather unrelated to the great one world order forged of the EU's (or US's, or Rothchild's, or whoever the fuck is the boogeyman's) mighty power. Blaming the EU for germany having some of the most restrictive hate speech laws imagineable - statements dreamed by the deranged. Same for health care systems. Same for taxation systems. Same for population immigration. Most of those were done by yourself, to yourself, and barely influenced by the "great big luxemburg EU HQ". Yeah, GERMANY wants others to do as it does, but you dont HAVE to agree to it. UK , fully ditto. Almost None of those decisions were neither compulsory, or EU-wide.
one had to be an absolute idiot to not google any one of nigel farage's claims pre-brexit and find out that 95% of what he claimed was a straight up lie, the rest, half truth. And why was he such a useless politician? Because he couldnt fix any of the issues he claimed were bringing the country down - BECAUSE THEY WERENT THE ROOT CAUSES OF PROBLEMS

l (lebronjames75@shitposter.club)'s status on Wednesday, 06-Mar-2024 06:43:07 JST l @sim @augustus @lain the only difference is that the war wouldve been less bloody, and the ukrainian people would permanently live in a even MORE corrupt and even worser country, would "we" the west have meddled less, but this war was inevitable solely due to one man's imperialistic decision. Many less immediate instant deaths, but so many more worse lives, lives worse than living in an active warzone. "Our" response is a reaction of self defence against a true first strike.
There's a fucking REALLY FUCKING OBVIOUS REASON why 0% OF THE FORMER USSR STATES ARE A PART OF BRICS (belarus not counted due to being, for all intents and purposes, an occupied oblast[see 2022 union state declaration]) and it's not "other economic cooperation organizations gave us better options"
its "I dont want to be genocided AGAIN for the 8th time this century by russia AGAIN."
and despite that, remember, NO sanctions against russia by ANY of the aformentioned countries, and russia was PLEASED to completion by "us" after 2014 with your exact words of "We should give in to russia's needs as they declare"
We did give in
We gave in to georgia (how many times?)
We gave in to Crimea and Donbas regions (for how many years)
we gave in to ignoring certain internal russian tragedies
the collective west, gave in plenty of times in many places in many years in the past 25 years, and every single time we gave in, the next year we had to give in to something bigger. God forbid i mention the full last 35 years. Transnistria, Chechen wars (how many?), Dagestan, the multiple pre-USSR-dissolution genocides, the current selective-genocide of minority peoples in russia. A bilnd eye has been turned many times, and still today some falter: "What if they do something worse if we dont appease them?"
the big mafia's been appeased and this active acute war is purely the result of said appeasement and indecision. And if they get appeased again, guess what happens next? It will NOT BE SATIATION -

- PiS having the brilliant idea to capture the judical system and make it fully government-dependent, and fucking it up beyond recognition in the process, so now nobody knows what the law is -

That is understandable. I wouldn't expect you to have more disdain for the nazis than communists given that history in your family. My family suffered during WWII, and we were being bombed so I have that connection there. Not that we learned enough about it. I'm more concerned with what is happening to my country now. I know people can take advantage of that. I just hope that other people can understand why I would like our internal problems to be resolved first because they have taken a back seat or been suppressed for so long now. It's interesting. It would be interesting to compare from different sources and times. And really get a feel for different propaganda and the tricks that they employ.
Your example reminds me of something that I stumbled across when looking into instruments.
"In 1932, on the order of Stalin, the Soviet authorities called on all Ukrainian Kobzars to attend a congress in Kharkiv. Those that arrived were taken outside the city and were all put to death."
Stalin basically had blind musicians shot here or they were later arrested. Probably because they were playing older national songs, like folksingers. This is not something that we hear much about.
"Kopan, Heorhiy – Arrested in 1930. Protested the censorship of Ukrainian songs. Arrested in 1936. Arrested again on March 19, 1938, and shot on March 28, 1938."
Makes me wonder how often this type of thing happened. I know it's not quite the same as an example of written propaganda. We don't learn much about communism at school but it sounds similar to what the Nazis did. The undesirables often get abused. -

"stealing" grain that had fallen from a transport trolley. she was charged under the law of three spikelets and was only released after my grandma was born. that grain would have never been used otherwise, it would have been ground into dust by the horses trotting over it, and yet the handful that my great-grandma took was enough for the authorities to throw a pregnant woman in jail. thankfully, she didn't get sent to a gulag, or i might not have been born. then there's also the property that was "liberated" from my great-grandpa, etc etc. my family has suffered greatly under the hands of communism, and i am extremely thankful that i don't have to live under it and it's why i treat communists with more disdain than i do nazis narcolepsy and alcoholism :flag: likes this. -

i wish i could bring you USSR time newspapers for reading comparison, and you would see the differences. so you could understand them deeply.
but the only thing i can tell you is anecdotes
when i was walking in pripyat, ~~2016 i believe it was, i was walking in the pripyat school, famously often shown on photographs as one of the many iconic locations in pripyat. And i walked through class to class, looking at the old classrooms (which looked exactly the same as my own classrooms at home, years 2000's! because everything was exactly the same in the USSR, even 1000km away.) and textbooks of the soviet era. I couldnt read most of them, needed a translator (so, very very very slow), but then i found it
a Soviet English Textbook
and there i could read everything
"The soviet worker is a proud and noble man, greater than any other nation's!"
"The american soldier is poor and fat"
and every page i turn, its like that
"The comitern is working hard to provide a stable future"
"Starvation has been tough in the past, but communism brings us more riches than before in any previous country!"
"This harvest is plentiful!"
and every page and line i looked at in that dusty, old, halfrotten english text book, was like that. you were either a Great Ethnic superhuman (honorary) russian (soviet communist), or you were "them", the other, the evil man who STEALS from the populace (or even worse, a WORK-AVOIDANT PERSON [gulag{exaggerated yet truthful joke}])
i hope i havent written this anecdote before here (or that you havent atleast read it), i hate when i accidentally repeat myself at times at the same person -
