On its face, this is not unusual: Pelosi and Feinstein are the two most powerful politicians to come out of San Francisco in decades, and Pelosi’s communications director says that both Pelosi and her daughter are friends with Feinstein. But it could mean that the Pelosis have extra sway in choosing a successor should Feinstein resign before her term is up in 2025. California governor Gavin Newsom has said he would appoint a Black woman lawmaker, which could influence the contested Democratic primary already underway. “If DiFi resigns right now, there is an enormous probability that Barbara Lee gets appointed,” a source close to the Pelosi family told Politico, referring to the representative running for the Senate seat in 2024. That would be a problem for Representative Adam Schiff, whom Pelosi has endorsed in the race next year. With Prowda in Feinstein’s ear at a vulnerable moment, the family confidant added that the relationship between Pelosi, her daughter, and Feinstein is “being kept under wraps and very, very closely held.” Meanwhile, the secret of Feinstein’s acuity is getting out more and more as she remains in public life. Days after her return to the Senate, she told a reporter that “I haven’t been gone” for the past three months. She was promptly wheeled away by an aide after the short exchange.

Billy and Gavin opened a wine shop and restaurant when they took over the Balboa Café, creating this really cool scene.” This was San Francisco before the tech boom and before social media. The Balboa Café, a Marina standard that Billy Getty and Newsom bought and updated, was described by the New York Times in 1998 as “a glittering nexus for Gen-X San Franciscans with social and political connections.” That year, Newsom ran his first campaign: a bid to hold on to a county supervisor seat, which then-Mayor Willie Brown had appointed him to fill.     I won't pretend not to see this BS. Everyone knows that white supremacy exists in California, right? And that there are powerful networks in California that drive political funding & advancement? And that those are mostly white networks, that favor white candidates? And that Barbara Lee began her career having to battle those networks, & still operates largely as an outsider to them? And that her progressivism is very much related to this? If you won't confront white supremacy everywhere...

  Yes the chart doesn't even include the Pelosi daughter wheeling Feinstein around DC trying to keep her in office as long as possible despite her terrible mental and physical decline, instead of telling her it was time to retire & give CA real representation in the Senate. They probably made the last months of Feinstein's life really unpleasant and unnecessarily confusing for her. I find the entire thing so incredibly horrible.

  @chargrille i haven't dealt with electioneering in ages but did at one point with Emily's List until i figured out most of the women they supported were of a certain hue. so this new president came as a surprise
  but am done with the triangulating BS of the church of pelosi. i saw first-hand how they did dirty migrants because Thiel paid them millions for marriage equality. "Trump's gay" who got ICE disappear the babies they threw in cages

  @eagerpebble Yes but it's from 2019 and I think it became a bigger issue either contemporaneous with this, or just after.
  And of course Pelosi's daughter Nancy Corinne Prowda, being Feinstein's secret caretaker when she finally was made to go back to the Senate in May 2023, was afterwards.
  Anyway the idea that Pelosi & Newsom weren't working together to help Schiff is ridiculous on its face.

  Reading an article of Newsom's handling of the appointment. Timeline includes Christine Pelosi's pushback after Newsom said he would appoint a Black woman for the next vacancy in the midst of his recall election.
  “You don’t have to like Dianne Feinstein to see that pushing her out of her elected position for a Black woman appointment that you could have made when there is an actual vacancy to win a recall to push you out of your elected position is a very bad look,” tweeted Christine Pelosi, daughter of House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi and former chair of the California Democratic Party Women’s Caucus.
