     Doesn't excuse the poor judgement when it comes to rating that movie though. There are some things that kids just shouldn't be exposed to. You can't really argue that shark attacks are frequent enough to be inevitable. And if (general) you think that it's necessary to traumatize kids in order to keep them safe (especially for something as rare as a shark attack) then you shouldn't be a parent.

     I'd say if you want to be angry with jews for overinflating things in media from about the 70s to the 00s they couldn't conceive of a film targeting adults or teens that didn't promote hook up culture. They couldn't put out an R rated movie that didn't have soft core porn in it. They got right up to X or NC-17 ratings then backed off just enough for the R and they did so consistently.

     I haven't read the original Jaws novel but no matter how detailed the writing is I doubt you could actually imagine what said murder and torture scenes would look like. Normal people can't visualize such violent acts if they've never been exposed to them.

     There's a lot I have to say both for and against your point, but I'll keep it at two things to avoid some retarded essay post.
     
     Not saying this isn't true but Slavs and East Asians have this issue as well. I've seen a lot of Russian, Serbian and Japanese media that are unbelievably fucked up and make Jaws look tame by comparison.
     
     I think the bigger issue with Jaws is that it got a PG rating. That was before PG-13 and sure it was movies like it that made the middle rating necessary, but it almost feels like a deliberate move to traumatize children. On the flip side G rated movies used to be much more like PG and PG-13 rated movies now, I sometimes worry the opposite is true and we've been so over sensitized that we can't deal with things our ancestors would have considered pretty pedestrians (see people flipping out over the process of butchering an animal for meat)

I'm okay with (fictional) violence for the sake of violence but the more realistic it gets the more it makes me want to throw up. Suspension of disbelief and all that. I'm okay with things like Bulletstorm but modern MK is just too repulsive.

     The Mortal Kombat dev team is a good example: wanting sexy beautiful women bad. Simulating executions where the player imposes heavy amounts of pain, terror, humiliation and disfigurement on the victim is a joy.
     
     In MK 10 story mode a monstrous lesbian kills another with a bug infested kiss. Guess torturous murder-rape is okay if it is dikey.
