I wasn't eating poorly before, lots of whole foods and healthy vegetables and so on, but my health has still tangibly improved with vitamin supplements
makes me wonder if it's even possible to avoid minor deficiencies without supplements these days, if you're not growing your own food

If I recall exogenous pregnenolone tends to convert into progesterone, dhea, and cortisol. The other hormones, e.g. testosterone, are too far down stream for supplementation to have much effect. In some people, there's almost no conversion at all.

@blaaablaaaa @D-Droid @roboneko @Marakus @deprecated_ii what does pregnolone and glycine do for you? i know you can get enormous amounts of selenium from brazil nuts

@CatLord @blaaablaaaa @roboneko @Marakus @deprecated_ii Pretty sure Pregnolone sounds like Progesterone, wonder if they work the same.
(Progesterone destroys estrogen)

@Marakus @deprecated_ii @roboneko Yes it’s due to Nitrogen farming, basically grows food faster but they couldn’t tell that it was depleting nutrient content of the veggies and fruit until way later. It’s depleted the soil of most of the major farmlands.

It's absolutely necessary to supplement especially things like magnesium. I have a more comprehensive list but it also includes selenium, vitamin d & k as well. I've had some decent help with pregnenolone and glycine as well.

@roboneko yeah, there were deficiencies when people literally couldn't get the food that had the nutrients they needed, because they were poor, or isolated, or whatever
the nutrients not being in the food is a fundamentally different and frankly more serious problem

@deprecated_ii @roboneko I remember reading an article that food (vegetables, fruits, etc) are roughly half as nutritious as they used to be and around 5 times less vitamins.

> these days
there were horrible deficiencies historically. when was the last time you ran into someone suffering from (arbitrary example) rickets?
not meaning to defend modern farming practices. some things can get better while others simultaneously get worse, you know?

I have a theory that a lot of the simp / cuck behavior is not caused by low testosterone, but rather low androstenedione (which is why they outlawed it). Simply taking testosterone doesn't fix the problem, which is why you get guys like Jack Murphy, and other weird juice heads. Dhea is one step away though.

Each person's body is different, and hormone conversion and effectiveness will depend on the amount of converting enzymes, receptor sites, sex hormone binding globulin for transport of the hormone around the body, and elimination via detoxification routes, e.g. the liver, so different people will respond differently to different "inputs." Simply raising cholesterol may work for some people, while certain precursors may be more effective for others. Some people may need the target hormone though.
Pregnenolone, progesterone, and dhea are the only hormones / precursors available over the counter (though there is a whole industry built around their analogs, see "high tech pharmaceuticals" for example). I think the commercially available "progesterone" derives from some plant, like papaya or something, so I'm not sure it's really progesterone per se.

@Humpleupagus @blaaablaaaa @roboneko @D-Droid @Marakus @deprecated_ii What would help it? Taking pregnenolone and progesterone? Eating lots of good fats (cholesterol)?

@Humpleupagus @blaaablaaaa @roboneko @CatLord @Marakus @deprecated_ii Do other countries sell androstenedione?

@D-Droid @Humpleupagus @blaaablaaaa @roboneko @CatLord @Marakus @deprecated_ii Yes and no. You can get analogs from other places in prohormones still. I think the uk might still have it but that runs with having other weak oral roids in the mix.

In a general sense, yes. I've spent some time looking at endocrinology studies on the ncbi over the years. Your chart is fairly descriptive of the hormones and they related enzymes that are involved in conversion. The question is the rate of conversion, sometimes direction, location, sometimes triggers (see below), and half-lives / elimination.
Hormone production can also be regulated by the pituitary via a feed back mechanism, e.g. gonadotropins and testosterone, so you can shove as much chosterol in as you want, if your pituitary or testicles are fucked, your gonna have a hard time.

@Humpleupagus @roboneko @blaaablaaaa @D-Droid @Marakus @deprecated_ii Do you know anything about the conversion from cholesterol to pregnenolone (or any of the other hormonal conversions from that point on)?

Every person's genetics are different, though you can get an approximation based on your heritage. What works for most Mexicans would work for Hump, what works for most Germanic Anglos would probably work for Cat, what works for most Gaels would probably work for me, etc.
But studies on this sort of thing has became weirdly taboo. Isn't that strange?

There's a bit of truth in that because apparently optometrists over prescribe glasses beyond a persons normal vision capabilities and causes eye strain and fatigue, hence the constant need for new, more powerful lenses.

@blaaablaaaa @roboneko @BowsacNoodle @D-Droid @Marakus @deprecated_ii well I meant that everyone is going to eventually have poor eyesight because we don't naturally select for good vision anymore since we can just fix it with glasses. the cure is right around the corner for both eyesight and hearing though. in 5-10 years you'll just need to use an eye drop and your vision will be cured lol

@Silverwolf @roboneko @Humpleupagus @blaaablaaaa @D-Droid @Marakus @deprecated_ii I was talking with a woman about ancestry the other day. She said her Irish side came from Scotland like a thousand years ago or so. It's the same with mine, except it was ~500 years ago. They were a mercenary clan. IDK how people can be uninterested in their ancestry. That stuff is fascinating!
