     @jeffcliff @DW2 @verita84 In good faith I ask you this: what would happen, logically, if they just packed up and left? Would people let anything go, or would there be rearming and escalation and a full on continental war within a decade? They have to commit and reach a peace deal which hopefully involves Russia helping to rebuild this area. Zelenski won't let this happen. He's said as much from day one and has continually shown his unwillingness to approach Russia in good faith.

     I don't see that as feasible. Reparations like that is a good way to get hostilities to continue.

     Zelenski is a problem but the bigger problem is Putin/Russia/PMC Wagner/Belarus. Once those 4 behave themselves, Zelensky can be dealt with

A bunch of people moved to The Ukraine like 100 years ago from Russia and there's ethnic enclaves. The USSR falls apart, but these people still feel more Russian than Ukrainian. Should they be forced to abandon their homes three+ generations in? I'm not sure. But Ukraine claims it's a democracy and didn't recognize the votes for self governance from those areas, even when international supervision said it was legit. Of course no country ever recognized secession without conflict, but this particular situation wasn't properly addressed. At all. Meanwhile the CIA coups are the only reason zelenski is even in power. It's a big Charlie Foxtrot because zelenski as a puppet of the West and jewish interests is unwilling to bend, and Putin has a nostalgic 40 year USSR anniversary tour he's preparing for and is getting up there in years. You've got two people who won't bend on this, which is really a sign that the forces at play are bigger than both of them.

Surrounding yourself with yesmen is useful when you're unequivocally morally correct, and Ukraine, with its decades of corruption, cannot be such a thing by very nature. Before this conflict kicked off, it was reported that Ukraine was the most corrupt nation in Europe and I believe in the top 4 globally. Pillars of sand.

     I'm no Ukraine simp but I dont like the idea if setting the precedent that you can start invading countries to seize land again. I don't want to see China moving south or west (not just Taiwan) or having India say "fuck it" and seize kashmir
     
     Ukraine is jewish and dumb and while Russia has problems I like it. But there is a sort of benefit in maintaining the posture that wars of conquest won't pay off
     
     Maybe I'm just desperate to see something good in this ridiculous war

     The donbass situation was dire before 2014 even. Ukraine was using it as a coal-slave (Donbass has megatons of coal and barnett slanth), while not even repairing much of infrastructure.
     
     So. What ended up happening was fun. US pulls 80s south-america revolt scenario just to get all the oil to themselves, otherwise gazprom would've taken lion share of development contract.
     
     Russia, without much effort gets Donbass region to secede, practically showing US middle finger. Minsk agreements not upheld by Ukraine, with mortar fire against civilians over the years.
     
     Right now - Ukraine war is practically over for globohomo precisely because - they cannot get that oil now. Not without nuclear war. But cutting off funding would be awful for public image. So it's lingering, and nobody actually expecting Ukraine to win.
