Alright boys maximum autism time. In the case of a 28DL or WWZ type situation would a high medieval or late medieval/Renaissance knight have a better armor setup for not getting merced by the undead?

@Wisconsin_Kraut @Umlaut @confederatehobo People in armor won't have the stamina to outcompete zombie hordes. I'd see the chainmail option as a better choice so that you can move and conserve stamina. I thought plate is more for projectile resistance, as well as deflection of non-blunt weapons. Based on that, I'd prefer chain with the expectation that fighting is done in organized groups and limited to when absolutely needed. Castle siege mentality would be something medieval knights would probably be capable of handling well. Archers plinking off zombie heads, hammers and spears used through fortifications, oil kettles poured to mitigate zombie pile ramps, possibly lit. Blood splatter contamination would be a concern, but perhaps burning the dead would cover it.

@Wisconsin_Kraut @Umlaut @confederatehobo Point taken regarding the pagan aspect to it, but come on man, you've gotta think about how bad your heatstroke is going to be while traveling in PLATE MAIL. There ain't going to be any gas for a nice air conditioned set of wheels, you'll be travelling on foot even in the summer.
Put a Cross up on that hoplite armor, appropriate it for our Lord, and be a nimble survivalist.

>exposed arms
>exposed thighs and femoral
>throat minimally protected
Bro this is barely better than cloths also if I'm LARPing I'm going to be the Christian knight of the apocalypse not the cringe pagan wannabe

@Wisconsin_Kraut @Umlaut @confederatehobo Now hoplite armor PLUS chain cloth on arms, legs and neck would be pretty solid.

@SuperLutheran @Wisconsin_Kraut @Umlaut @confederatehobo I like the mixed armor type. There's no need to have every single portion covered in plate, but I want my neck and important vitals covered. Also want to minimize bite-zones. There's also the very real possibility of people getting infected while fighting, so I think having something that can still be hit by a crossbow bolt or whatever might be useful. Another concern is uninfected enemies, particularly those who have good fortifications and start using zombie-lure cavalry to setup raids against other survivors. I'm quite sure that would happen eventually.

All that bite able flesh tho. I favor the chainmail setup because that stuff is breezy tbh

@Wisconsin_Kraut @SuperLutheran @Umlaut @confederatehobo Dude it would totally happen. Some group makes ye primitive killdøzer for catching them in the wild and keeps them in a mad scientist's dungeon. Eventually he starts working on them, trying to develop a potion of immortality. In the process he accidentally infects himself but through his research develops a cure to stave off madness and full zombie takeover. Unfortunately it requires a frequent supply of fresh human blood. 💥 Medieval vampire zombie origin story world building.

@BowsacNoodle @SuperLutheran @Umlaut @confederatehobo I'm now imagining people catapulting zombies into enemies walls to cause outbreaks amongst the defenders
