@Wisconsin_Kraut @Umlaut @confederatehobo People in armor won't have the stamina to outcompete zombie hordes. I'd see the chainmail option as a better choice so that you can move and conserve stamina. I thought plate is more for projectile resistance, as well as deflection of non-blunt weapons. Based on that, I'd prefer chain with the expectation that fighting is done in organized groups and limited to when absolutely needed. Castle siege mentality would be something medieval knights would probably be capable of handling well. Archers plinking off zombie heads, hammers and spears used through fortifications, oil kettles poured to mitigate zombie pile ramps, possibly lit. Blood splatter contamination would be a concern, but perhaps burning the dead would cover it.
