@siege @TonyaMarie I will say, as someone on oral, it was prog that made me feel really and truly like a woman. Estrogen made me feel like I belonged in my body, but prog made that body feel like a woman's body. I loooove it.

CJ Bellwether (siege@octodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 28-May-2023 07:41:27 JST CJ Bellwether @TonyaMarie @Impossible_PhD Another option may down to how some cis women respond differently to Allopreg. When they studied groups of women who had PMDD against women who didnt, the group who didnt, got the expected sedative result while the PMDD group had an paradoxically opposite effect wiith increased active respone in the amygdala. It's im pretty sure why progesterone is such a confusing hormone in terms of trans research, for some people the allopreg is good for mental health, for some its neutral and others its seems to be very bad.

CJ Bellwether (siege@octodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 28-May-2023 07:41:29 JST CJ Bellwether @TonyaMarie @Impossible_PhD yeah, then its quite possibly just going by unnoticed as it ramps up over the 2 hours to get to its peak - and its bioidentical so your body will interpret it as your own biology's impulses.
I didnt realise how sedativey it can be until i was out of the country in prague doing a job, and forgot to take it at night so took it in the morning and then got on the bus with everyone else to get to the venue and i was acting like i was drunk or high, being super out of control chatty with like staff at the worksite even though i couldnt understand why i was acting like that and i had to just end up saying im really sorry i dont know whats going on i think i have a fever and need to go back to the hotel.

CJ Bellwether (siege@octodon.social)'s status on Sunday, 28-May-2023 07:41:34 JST CJ Bellwether @TonyaMarie @Impossible_PhD yeah normally if you take progesterone orally it breaks down to allopregnanolone which is a sedative. If you're on 100mg it may not be noticeable and just calming - make you sleepy, but at 200mg it tends to be much stronger. We dont have any data results on allopregnanolone when taken rectally and that depends on the portal vein and how much might reach it if any. We know rectal gives very high progesterone in the bloodstream, just not sure if some, any, or none end up going to the liver and being allopreg.

I am not familiar with any "woozy" side effect and certainly haven't experienced it. Is it something that is common? And is different based on delivery route?

I have tried rectal a few times, and found that there was no discernable difference, other than being really uncomfortable for the next 30+ minutes.

Doc Impossible (impossible_phd@hachyderm.io)'s status on Sunday, 28-May-2023 07:41:39 JST Doc Impossible @siege I mean, aside from literally any other considerations, it's a lot easier to take orally. In my experience as a technical writer, never underestimate the massive power of user laziness.
