anime graf mays ?️?someone sent me a message asking about what instances I would recommend on the fediverse. I think this is a topic that should be openly discussed so I want to share my opinions and why
- when poast joined fediverse we were originally mastodon but almost immediately became aligned with shitposter.club and eventually became tied to it and several others as time went on. @p, FSEs admin knowing I was only really familiar in python code and basic and others had always offered to help me when we had instance issues relating to Erlang. my introduction to Erlang and elixir was poast. I’d never used it before and Pete was probably the most welcoming person on fediverse to learn from. since then I’ve been able to make or maintain fixes, make and fix MRF and modify pleroma (soapbox not that shit trannies use) how we’ve needed. without Pete poast would still be crashing hourly, running afowl and being genuinely not usable.
Pete only defederates instances or users who violate his own very lax policy or California law where he and FSE are located
- @alex was the first friend I ever made on the fediverse and it was purely accidental. I was trying to use his database script to migrate mastodon to pleroma and it wasn’t working and he simply suggeated “I haven’t checked on it in a while. it might not work”. we nuked poasts original database and just started over. throughout the span of a year and a half Alex has been there to help me, to help poast when people attacked me, doxed me, threatened me and poast or otherwise attempted to make my, poast or the fediverse at wholes experience much worse. in doing this he taught me the very lesson he and many others of you are learning today in that often times it doesn’t matter the quality of your work or what you have to offer so much as what you believe and trust and who you support. if I didn’t have my own instance I would probably ask Alex to let me register on his because he’s always supported me and my stupid ideas and he fights for people unlike those who chose to silence his work over being receptive to new ideas. gleasonator is the best to join if you want to experience poast ui beta
- what can I say about @sjw? I love that guy. I talk to him most of the day every day on text. he’s one of the coolest most down to earth people i know. he runs his instance the same way Pete does but less focus on hentai because baest is absolutely full of it. baest got it’s start on fedi under many names but originally it’s main site was neckbeard.xyz. this was one of our first federations on poast and sjw and I had mild falling out because poast gained several hundred people in a few hours. he treated me like torba at the beginning but after we had the chance to talk to eachother he and I realized we could be the best of friends and we try to help eachother every chance we can. that being said, he doesn’t allow illegal shit like we dont, Alex doesn’t and Pete doesn’t but he is more focused to pornography than any of us 3.
