And this is the stepping stone to fully automating the delivery system. This woman should me MUCH MORE not ok with this, but I know she probably wants to keep this job.
I'm a coach driver and we have a system called Guardian that does all of that shit and tracks your eyes and can tell if you're tired, yawning, or even not watching the road.
If I look away for longer than 3 seconds it'll chirp in a way that is designed to catch my attention and make me face forward. It has an alert if I yawn and close my eyes while moving, and automatically downloads a clip to an office to judge whether I need to be contacted to take a rest stop.
Shit is pretty gay, but then they roll the clip for why this technology was introduced of a trucker falling asleep at the wheel, crashing through the barrier on the freeway, and causing a pile up in both directions, and crushing a family of 4 in a fireball under his truck.
Having it be a helpful tool is one thing. But I know people are greedy and stupid and like she said in the vid, it AUTOMATICALLY dings you with a penalty without evaluating the situation at all. They assume guilt before sentencing. Guy scratched his face ffs. They want EVERYTHING automated to death. Eventually all they will need a PERSON for is to act like a trained monkey and pop out of the self driving vehicle to put the package on the doorstep. (doesn't help the fact that they keep hiring lower and lower standards of employees who couldn't find their own asshole let alone the front porch to a house.)
"If all we have to do is give up more freedoms to save lives then everyone would be happier."
I think this has way more to do with preventing insurance fraud. Amazon, one of the world's largest companies, has trucks on practically every road. So are insurance fraud scammers. They see Amazon, think they can sue tf out of them, and pull some bullshit for a giant fucking check.
While there are obvious Skynet applications to this set up, I think it has more to do with Amazon lawyers saying 'No, you have no lawsuit. Look at all our safety protocols. Our driver was following the law.' etc etc
Exactly. Drives down their overhead, especially having to insure so many delivery trucks, tractor-trailers, trains, planes, and so on. I think any of the 'spying on employees' applications are secondary to the $$$
Until all of this is fully automated, idk if Amazon could even fully abuse this system. There's only so much work force willing to work for them as it is, and they require a lot worldwide. They can't keep afloat with rapid turnover by willy-nilly firing everyone over chin scratches and the like.
Yes, it’s better because defederation isn’t a thing. There are no instances, only clients and relays. So there’s no instance drama or tranny janny that can stop us from talking, and even if you were banned from a relay (you use multiple at once by default) you can add another and we can still see each other.
Oh that reminds me. I heard of a proposed mandate being pushed for all new cars. It's a breathalyzer anyone driving would have to blow into before being able to use a vehicle. I know they do this with people who have past DUIs, but they want to make it standard.
That was my next point. Insurance companies are mega fucks and never want to pay anything ever. If they can use THIS as an example of "safe driving" then they will try to push it out to regular consumers eventually. Anything to add further monitoring to you and your vehicle.
Just like how they want to monitor your mileage so they can tax you for emissions.
I guess while you can't be deffeded or outright banned, you can't do it to others either..? So instead of muting a, say, loli instance as a group, it's back to individual blocking or muting.
@ShotgunShuffle@darniil@bot So like a blockchain twitter? I keep getting these messages in my timeline about this thing. I had no idea what it was. People just saying that everyone has to join, but I have no idea what it is. Great way to get people in the door, if they don't even explain it.
